Our unique, multidisciplinary interaction design program cultivates a big-picture perspective and diverse set of skills, laying a foundation for interaction design careers and fostering entrepreneurship.

Critical training
In this program, you’ll learn from professors and guest speakers who have considerable experience in family therapy, policy development, social work, social justice and other social service fields. You’ll gain a solid skills foundation through a laboratory practicum, and you’ll develop plans for starting and running a service organization.
Things you'll learn to do

• Conduct effective assessments.
• Manage interventions.
• Develop advocacy strategies relevant to a client’s needs.
• Work with government agencies to navigate regulations.
• Become fully aware of the services available and how to deliver them.
• Understand the scope of your practice and when (and where) to refer clients.

Beginning in your first year of studies, you’ll take courses in each of the five streams of our Craft and Design degree: Glass, Ceramics, Textiles, Furniture and Industrial Design. You’ll understand how to combine multiple materials and processes into one project, helping you develop your own unique artistic voice.

Stand out from the crowd by specializing in cloud computing, data analytics, game engineering or network engineering. You’ll be introduced to each of these growing fields of computer science in your first year of studies, then take eight courses in the area of your choice. Each field requires specific skills not taught in traditional diploma and degree programs.

Build a strong foundation in computer science
Not a computer expert? No problem! You'll begin with the basics in your first year, learning about computer programming, networks, mathematics, scripting and database modelling. More than 80% of our Computer Science degree curriculum consists of core courses designed to develop fundamental skills that will prepare you to work in all areas of computer science, both now and in the future.

Internship, co-op and applied research opportunities
At Sheridan, we believe the best way to learn is through hands-on experience. Between your third and fourth year of studies, you can work for our industry partners through a four-month internship or a paid co-op placement that can last up to 16 months. You can also sharpen your research skills by providing computer science support to any of Sheridan's various applied research projects.

This program will equip you with the skills you need to support students with a range of special needs. You'll use modified curricula and materials, including assistive technology, to accommodate their diverse strengths and developmental needs, and you'll learn to maintain a safe and professional environment that promotes students' well being.

• Respond to and assist with personal care needs of students in educational settings from kindergarten through high school.
• Work as part of the educational team with specialists and family members.

• Support inclusion of the student to aid his or her social development and sense of belonging.

Learn social service work focused on a growing population:-

Social service workers who focus on gerontology are sought out by many organizations because of the growing senior population in Canada. This in-depth diploma answers society’s needs by teaching the foundations of social service work, while training you to specialize in work with the elderly.

Our faculty come from a wide range of community service roles, and includes social workers, community developers and gerontology specialists. Each professor brings their unique and valuable experience to every course, providing you with one-of-a-kind knowledge that only years in the field provides.

Get hands-on social service work experience in field placements:-

In Terms 2, 3 and 4 you’ll work with seniors in a field placement two days a week. This means valuable on-the-job experience and the chance to practically apply your class lessons. You’ll support older adults in different settings, and also establish valuable career connections in the community.

In the Interactive Media Management program, you'll learn to create, manage and develop web and mobile content, leveraging a curriculum in usability, interactivity, front-end coding, social media, user experience (UX) and emerging mobile technologies in an interdisciplinary, inter-professional collaborative learning environment.
