In Terms 2, 3 and 4 you’ll work with seniors in a field placement two days a week. This means valuable on-the-job experience and the chance to practically apply your class lessons. You’ll support older adults in different settings, and also establish valuable career connections in the community.

The 4 cores of software engineering
As a program accredited by the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS), we concentrate on four core areas of software engineering:

• Programming and software development in Java, C and C#
• Web technologies and web application development
• Database management and administration
• Network administration and security

In this program, you'll gain practical software engineering skills that give you a competitive edge in the job market. You'll study computer hardware (including Computer Architecture and Linux/Unix Operating System) and business practice, management and analysis. There's also a concentration on math that will provide you with a deeper understanding of software engineering principles.

ATVF integrates the practical, technical and creative aspects of television and film studies while providing direct, industry-relevant experience. You'll develop your creativity while gaining the specialized skills you need to bring your ideas and vision to life on the screen. You'll also acquire an understanding of new technologies and production methods, enabling you to stay current.

In the technical areas, camera students will work in professional-style camera teams coached by industry gaffers, 1st ACs and cinematographers. Students shoot on both documentary and cinema cameras. Audio students are trained in software such as Pro Tools. Sheridan has two industry-style mixing theatres for audio mix playback. Students can screen their final films on a cinema-size screen with an industry-quality projector and a Dolby surround-sound environment.

In our two-year Visual and Creative Arts diploma, you’ll get rigorous in-studio training in every semester of the program. Developed in response to industry need, this three-semester program simulates a realistic work environment in which designers, coders and artists integrate their skills. You'll learn to communicate game level design concepts and gain practical skills to implement and evaluate this knowledge in a simulated work situation. Note: This program is held consecutively – September to August.

The Sheridan game level design courses focus on offering applied, real-world skill development. Assignments and class work focus on case studies. You'll learn both 2D and 3D game design, while gaining industry-specific skills in game design and development, story and scripting, cinematography and sound, multi-player systems, game documentation and play testing.

In our Craft and Design – Ceramics program, you'll develop new skills and ideas in pottery, sculpture and design to begin an exciting career.

Hands-on learning
We offer hands-on learning in one of Canada's leading Ceramics studios. Inspiring, dedicated faculty help you explore a full range of processes and techniques with an awareness of contemporary ideas and community. You'll learn innovative approaches to clay, such as wheelthrowing, handbuilding, moldmaking, slipcasting, clay/glaze formulation and firing salt/soda, wood, pit, gas and electric kilns.

In Ceramics, you'll gain real-world experience and engage with the local and international community through professional events, workshops, competitions and exhibitions in galleries and museums. Get a foundation in all Craft and Design studios
Our program provides a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to Craft and Design. You'll major in your studio of choice while building skills in the four other disciplines. This program offers eight academic semesters with three co-op semesters for up to 12 months of industry experience upon graduation. • Sheridan’s Mobile Computing degree program offers diverse courses in computer science, software engineering, mobile development and wireless networking. You’ll cover fundamental areas of computer science such as operating systems and computer architecture as well as advanced topics like artificial intelligence and theory of computation.You’ll also learn to develop programs in many programming languages like C#, C++, Java, Swift, Python, JavaScript and others using industry-grade frameworks and tools.
• You’ll take dedicated courses in software design and software engineering that inform the software development process. Specialized courses in mobile computing and wireless networking make this program unique, and ensure that you’ll be able to create advanced mobile applications that leverage cognitive computing, the cloud and the Internet of Things.
• You'll also have the opportunity to engage in applied research at Sheridan's Centre for Mobile Innovation (CMI) during your academic semesters and co-op work terms. CMI is one of our cornerstone research centres. It uses leading mobile and related technologies to create innovative solutions to health-care problems.
