Combine theoretical study with practical experience in this program which prepares students to work with children (from birth to age 12) and their families in a variety of early childhood settings.  Graduates have a firm understanding of human development from birth to 12 years of age, and can use this understanding to create responsive, inclusive, play-based learning environments to best support the child as they develop. Students receive 630 hours of practical experience in a variety of early learning environments during three field placements, starting in the first year of the program.  This experience allows students to apply the skills taught in the classroom in real world learning experiences.

This Ontario College Certificate program prepares students to provide personal care and support services to individuals and families. Responsibilities of the Personal Support Worker may include assisting with home management, facilitating social and recreational activities, and promoting health and well-being with clients from all ages of the lifespan.

The program has been developed to meet the standards published by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. These standards reflect the increased pre-employment education and training required by Personal Support Worker graduates entering the increasingly diverse health and social care environment.

Personal Support Workers are unregulated health care providers. They work as a member of the care and support team under the supervision of a regulated health professional or supervisor, or in the supported independent living environment, under the direction of the client.

The General Arts & Science Diploma provides a broad liberal arts curriculum that prepares students for the workforce, college programs, or transfer to university. Core courses provide a solid foundation in communications and interpersonal skills, computers, mathematics, analytical skills, science, and general education. Complementing these are varied electives such as Film, Addictions, Fitness, and Psychology. All courses are chosen in consultation with the program coordinator, ensuring the right mix to meet each student’s interests and vocational goals.

General Arts & Science is a flexible program. Course sequence can change subject to student goals and class availability.

You will take a number of core courses that provide a solid foundation in communications and interpersonal skills, computers, mathematics, analytical skills, science, and general education. The remaining courses are electives, chosen in consultation with your program advisor. Diploma graduates are prepared to enter the workforce directly, or they may continue their studies at university.

University-bound students are encouraged to complete a pre-university diploma track. Students who self-identify as Pre-University work with the Program Coordinator to further customize their diploma course selection in preparation for university study. Key academic areas (Communications, Applied Science, Social Science, Math) are emphasized in accordance with the student's goals. Potential transfer opportunities exist at a number of Canadian universities; exploring these possibilities is at the discretion of the student. Game programming is a multi-billion dollar industry that is among the fastest growing in the world. The video game industry is in need of trained designers and programmers who understand the complexity and sophistication of products designed for installation on home computers, game consoles, web pages and cell phones and other devices. If you are creative and like to control the action, Game - Programming is for you.

Program content introduces you to fundamental game concepts including introductory computer programming in C++, basic game console electronics, computer operating system usage, and database storage techniques. You will broaden your knowledge by examining and implementing 3-dimensional programs that expand into real games using industry standard libraries. You will also create sounds to include in games and to integrate these sounds into your applications and will learn to use standard game engines to accomplish sophisticated graphics and interaction within your program control. Portability of code is emphasized at all stages of instruction.

Complementing the game development skills set is a sound background in software design methodology and programming.

The first two years in both programs are common. The Business Administration – Accounting (3 year) program offers students a more intensive background in financial accounting, corporate finance, cost accounting and taxation during the third year as well as a work placement in the final semester of the program.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
This program is comprised of the study of business fundamentals with a focus on accounting and finance, including financial and cost accounting, taxation, and accounting software applications. Students have the opportunity to pursue the payroll certification through the SLC Continuing Education Department.

On our Kingston campus, the first year of Business programs is common for the Business Diploma, as well as Accounting, Marketing, and Human Resources. The common first year allows students to experience elements of each program before deciding the path that is right for them.

Students in the Business Diploma program are empowered with the human skills employers are demanding. This one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate Program prepares graduates for this rewarding managerial career in the field of Project Management. Project Management is a highly sought discipline that involves the application of knowledge, skills and techniques to execute projects effectively and efficiently. Project managers are in high demand across all industries.

Students will develop a critical understanding of the ten knowledge areas according to "A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge" (PMBOK® Guide). Students will acquire the creative, practical, and advanced expertise that contributes to the effective management of the critical elements required to ensure overall project success. This course is interactive and takes a hands-on approach to learning.

This program provides training for a career in Policing Services and other branches of Law Enforcement. The goal of Police Foundations is to provide potential police officers and other law enforcement agents with a well-rounded education which prepares them to address the problems of the communities they serve in a flexible and effective manner.

The General Arts & Science (Certificate) program offers a foundational year for students preparing for the workforce or for future study. Students in the General Studies stream meet with the program coordinator to customize their program according to their needs and interests. Core courses include communication, computers, applied or social science, personal development, and general education. Complementing these are varied electives such as Film, Addictions, and Fitness. Students can also focus on essential competencies in communications, science and math.

Highlights
This one-year post-secondary certificate prepares you directly for the workforce or for future study. You will develop a set of core employment skills, complemented by electives that are chosen in consultation with your academic advisor (500 hours). Students are also eligible to continue their studies in the General Arts & Science Diploma at the second-year level.
