Do you have an interest in fitness and health, or helping others reach their fitness and health goals? If so, this program is for you!

This two-year curriculum includes courses in exercise science, fitness, health promotion, business management, and human relations as well as personal and professional development. Several of the courses will be delivered in the Student Health & Athletic Centre on the Kingston Campus, which provides a state-of-the-art training facility. Students will have the opportunity to obtain additional certifications including the nationally recognized Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification from the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology and Certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness and Spin certifications through Ontario Fitness Council (OFC).

Graduates will offer prospective employ­ers 400 hours of practical experience in the workforce gained from two 5-week work placements in areas of health promotion, inclusive fitness, injury prevention and management, fitness assess­ment and/or personal training and occupa­tional health and corporate wellness.

The Business Administration – Accounting program offers students a more intensive background in financial accounting, corporate finance, cost accounting and taxation during the third year.

The first two semesters of most Business programs offer the same curriculum. The curriculum for the remaining semesters in the accounting programs focuses on the areas of accounting and finance.

Diploma in Mechanical Technician

The Mechanical Technician program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to pursue a career as a Mechanical Technician or as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright). Upon completion graduates will receive an Ontario College Diploma as a Mechanical Technician.

Industrial Mechanic (Millwrights) perform some or all of the following duties: 

  • Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures. 
  • Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools. 
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery. 
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions. 
  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. 
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts. 
  • Operate machine tools such as lathes, mills and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery. 
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.

Highlights
Graduates will also have completed the equivalent of all levels of in-school training required for the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Apprenticeship Program and are well-prepared to write the exemption exams required for this trade. Completing the in-school training is attractive to employers who may wish to register you in an apprenticeship program.

Are you passionate about our access to food being a fundamental human right? If you are, then this is a program that allows you to explore diverse opportunities in an industry that is a vital part of the economy and the community.

This is a unique program that is unlike traditional food and culinary programs. Taught by a multidisciplinary faculty team, it affords the learner the opportunity to gain a fundamental understanding of all segments of the supply chain from farm to table. Graduates of this program will have opportunities that span the entire food industry from food services businesses to multinational food conglomerates.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
This program offers courses that include hands-on training to permit learners to understand and experience food preparation and can relate to the importance of sanitation, and quality assurance. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can affect an individual’s ability to communicate, socialize and function effectively at home, school and in their community. Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) can be used to develop new skills including language, social and play skills, self-help skills, academics, motor skills, life skills and appropriate behaviour.

Students in this highly specialized program learn to use a variety of evidence-based approaches to develop the skills of individuals with ASD across the lifespan by reviewing relevant literature, developing intervention plans, implementing programs, and collecting data to ensure intervention strategies effectively meet established goals.
