Civil Engineering Technologists play an important role in the efficient and sustainable operation of our cities and infrastructure. They are core members of the teams that plan, design, construct, and maintain buildings, roads, bridges, sewers, and water distribution systems. These systems keep our transportation systems operating, water flowing and provide safe structures for private and public services.    

With a focus on municipal engineering, structural design, water resources and surveying this three-year advanced diploma provides a strong foundation in core civil engineering subjects. The course work provides a balanced education in engineering theory, combined with practical work in laboratories and in the field.

You begin Marketing with a foundational understanding of business and its disciplines and scaffold your marketing abilities over two years to create value for the marketplace and open doors to marketing opportunities.

Second year courses include integrated marketing communications, brand management, business simulations, data analysis, personal selling, marketing research and entrepreneurship. You become career ready and contribute to an organization with a marketing placement. 

With a holistic approach to career readiness you take part in Emotional Intelligence, and Work Place Big 5 self assessments, career fairs, dining etiquette and intense professional development.  You meet regularly with faculty to review customized development plans to pursue relevant personal goals. 

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can affect an individual’s ability to communicate, socialize and function effectively at home, school and in their community. Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) can be used to develop new skills including language, social and play skills, self-help skills, academics, motor skills, life skills and appropriate behaviour.

Students in this highly specialized program learn to use a variety of evidence-based approaches to develop the skills of individuals with ASD across the lifespan by reviewing relevant literature, developing intervention plans, implementing programs, and collecting data to ensure intervention strategies effectively meet established goals.

Graduates:

• Understand the characteristics of the full spectrum of ASD and how human development occurs in the neuro-typical population;
• Know the range of evidence-based practices in autism treatment;
• Know how to complete curriculum-based assessments and functional assessments;
• Can plan, implement, and monitor interventions based on these assessment results;
• Know the ethical and professional requirements of working in the field of ABA
• Show leadership in the workplace by contributing knowledge and skills for practical solutions related to the treatment of ASD.

As this is a graduate certificate program, students can expect an intensive workload. Classes combine theory with active learning experiences and group work. Field placements are available in a range of settings and some may require the use of a vehicle.

Few colleges in Ontario offer an Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technology program and the workforce with these skills is shrinking due to retirements. As a result demand for these skills is high and continues to grow stronger every year.

Program Highlights

Hands On: The program is practical and hands-on. Core subject areas have approximately a 2:1 ratio of lab hours to theory hours. Students will be working with the equipment found in the industry. The program provides students with a sound knowledge of process measurement and control theory. They will be trained to work in the modern team-oriented organization with emphasis on productive interaction with peers.

Flexibility: The program accommodates high school graduates, mature students making a career change and post-graduate students wishing to acquire practical skills. Students enrolled in the two-year technician program may, upon graduation, transfer directly into the more rigorous and theoretical third year and earn a technology diploma.

Job satisfaction: Control systems are the brains behind the devices that produce everyday goods and keep our environment and utilities safe. Jobs are found in municipal waste and water utilities, building environment controls as well as assembly and manufacturing. In control systems, different tasks and problem solving are performed daily. Our graduates have told us; “You never do the same thing twice”. The control systems field is continuously evolving.

Technologists will often work with equipment in a complete system, ensuring that the individual devices work as a unit. Technologists have a greater theoretical understanding of control systems, communications, programming and technical project planning, allowing them to become involved in engineering design, as well as device and system specification.

Co-operative Education Opportunities: Both the technician and technologist programs now offer co-operative education opportunities – depending on availability of positions. These paid work­place educational opportunities will expand as we cultivate more co-op positions with other firms.

Co-op opportunities occur during a four month summer term after the second and fourth semesters and/or a full year term between the fifth and sixth semesters. The number of co-op positions available each year is not predefined. Students are able to apply for positions posted by various indus­trial firms and government agencies through­out the year. These opportunities give our students valuable on-the-job experience, financial help with their educational costs and enhanced employment possibilities.

This program prepares students to work in many different legal environments including law offices, government agencies and ministries, legal clinics, financial institutions, and various business enterprises. Our three-semester curriculum provides a solid foundation in legal procedures and substantive law ap­plicable to authorized areas of work for a law clerk. Emphasis is placed on property law, civil litigation, family law, criminal law, wills and estates, legal research and writing, and business law. Students become familiar with office procedures relating to the production of legal documents and specialized legal software programs. A four-week work place­ment provides students with an opportunity to enhance their classroom experience with practical work experience and exposure to potential employers.
 
A major objective of the program is to develop law clerks who are able to complete independent legal work as part of a team supporting lawyers in the day-to-day routine of their practice. In addition, the combina­tion of business and law subjects provides a strong foundation for career choices in other settings that offer services which apply law to specific interests. Recent employment situations of this type have included real estate offices, home construction companies, insurance companies, financial institutions, government agencies, community legal clinics, academic institutions, and private corporations.

The Pre-Health Sciences Pathway program prepares individuals for successful admission to, and future success in, certificate and diploma-level Health Sciences programs and other post-secondary studies. Courses in math, biology, and chemistry are complemented by studies in communications, computers, and general education. Program content provides students with the required knowledge and skills to meet admission requirements for future study in a college Health Sciences programs such as Paramedic, Practical Nursing, Veterinary Assistant and Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician, and with transferable post-secondary credits where relevant.

Your professors have extensive work experience in the industry and will help develop the essential skills required to be an effective supervisor, manager and leader in hospitality organizations locally, nationally and internationally. This one-year (three semesters) program prepares students with specialized training to work within the recreation, health, education, and/or social service delivery systems serving individuals a variety of abilities. Graduates will acquire the skills to complete standardized client assessments, develop and evaluate group and individualized programs and use a variety of facilitative techniques to assist individuals to participate in meaningful recreation activities that will enhance health, improve functional ability and increase quality of life. The program is built on the core belief of the inherent benefits of play, recreation and leisure to all people. Students will learn to adapt recreation activities so people with a variety of abilities can participate and to use recreation as a therapeutic tool to improve, maintain, and/or restore health and wellness.

Our program includes face-to-face classes primarily and some online classes to provide maximum flexibility for students who may be working in the field and wanting to upgrade their credentials.
