This program will prepare the student to fill the role of technical support in the dynamic and expanding field of client/server comput­ing, cloud computing, O/S virtualization, enterprise networks, administration and Internet management. Students complete a work placement component which provides on-the-job training with a local company in their final semester.

Our courses are constantly evolving to incorporate a blend of leading edge and traditional technologies to meet the needs of local employers. This program is well suited to people who are interested in computers, but not math, physics or electronics. Many of the courses in the CN&TS program train the students towards obtaining Microsoft, A+, LPIC-1, and Network + certifications.

Learning takes place in both classrooms and computer labs. Faculty bring a wealth of real-world experiences to the classroom. A num­ber of courses in the curriculum are delivered in dedicated a lab using exclusively assigned computers, virtual servers and diverse equipment.

A student graduating from the Office Administration - General program will graduate with a one-year certificate, opening the door to a variety of entry-level employment opportunities in both private and public work sectors.

Students will gain knowledge in the following areas:

• Technical skills
  • Introductory level Office 365/2019 cloud-based computer application skills including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint etc.
  • Outlook 365 - students become proficient in producing professional email communications, creating folders to stay organized, use of Outlook calendar to book appointments and schedule meetings.
  • Students will be required to achieve a keyboarding speed of 40-50 GWPM.
  • Students learn to share and edit documents in a cloud-based environment. Using MS Teams, collaboration software students learn how to book, attend and chair virtual meetings.
• Soft skills
  • Customer relationships are built on the use of effective and consistent communication as well as the ability to uphold and maintain confidentiality. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively are skills that are highly valued.
  • Employers seek office administrators that are highly organized, forward-thinking and have the ability to problem-solve.

A combination of both theoretical and applied practical courses in our curriculum are designed to expose students to all aspects of cuisines. Small class sizes facilitate the student’s personal development into a skilled and thoughtful cook.

All culinary programs offer the flexibility to decide if a Culinary Skills Certificate (one-year program) or a Culinary Management Diploma (two-year program) is the right fit.

The Music and Digital Media (MDM) Program is the only program of its kind in Canada. This challenging program builds foundational skills related to music performance, multimedia, film and audio recording. MDM prepares students for careers in music and media industries, and further education, if they wish.

The program focuses on the connection between diverse artistic disciplines and creative integration of art forms. Studies in music are combined with digital media courses in video production and audio recording. Throughout the program, students study their primary instrument (or voice) in 10 private applied lessons per semester. In second year, students gain experience in composition, entrepreneurial skills, and integrated arts project work including performance, sound design and installation art.

The Wind Turbine Technician program will provide students with in depth knowledge and hands-on experience of the electrical and mechanical aspects as they relate to wind turbines. You will also learn fiberglass repair techniques as they relate to wind turbines. You will receive safety training for working at heights and in confined spaces. In order to complete this program, you must have no fear of heights and you must be physically fit.

Students who are interested in the electrical field and who successfully complete the program may be exempt from the in-school portion of the industrial electrician and construction and maintenance electrician apprenticeship certification.

You begin the Business Administration – Marketing program with a strong foundational understanding of business and its disciplines and scaffold your marketing abilities over three years.  You develop your marketing skills in a hands-on, experiential learning environment focusing on communication, analytics, teamwork and planning.  You create value for the marketplace and open doors to ever increasing marketing management opportunities.

Senior level courses include integrated brand strategy, strategic design, digital marketing, market research, brand management, business simulations, account and customer relationship management, and customized certifications, and two marketing placements, all of which culminate with a full marketing plan for real clients. 

With a holistic approach to career readiness you take part in Emotional Intelligence, and Work Place Big 5 self assessments, career fairs, dining etiquette and intense professional development.  You meet regularly with faculty to review customized development plans to pursue relevant personal goals.

The internet continues to evolve at a rapid pace and the data of organizations have never been more vulnerable than now. Cyber attacks are costing organizations hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars per occurrence, and happen so often they are often featured in the news. There is a worldwide shortage of cybersecurity professionals as every organization seeks ways to make their data more secure.

Once you graduate from this eight-month, full-time graduate certificate program, you will be equipped with skills to protect your organization’s computers, servers, networks, and applications from breaches and unauthorized access. The courses in the program will give you an edge in detecting breaches, computer forensics, threat hunting, and penetration testing.

In addition, this program is highly interdisciplinary and includes aspects of law, policy, human factors, ethics and risk management. Focused on cyber-defense training, the program ensures you are able to “think like the intruder” when deploying security techniques. Upon graduation, students acquire skills relevant to leadership roles in cybersecurity across a variety of industries and businesses.

For students in the Social Sciences stream, core courses in communications, computers, and personal development are enhanced by courses in Psychology, Sociology, Interper­sonal Skills, Addictions, Stress Management, and Statistics. Graduates of the Social Sci­ences stream are prepared for future study in Community Services programs such as Social Service Worker, Behavioural Science Technol­ogy, and Child and Youth Care. Students wishing to pursue Behavioural Science Technology may require additional courses and should contact the General Arts & Science program coordinator.

The General Arts & Science (Certificate) program offers a foundational year for students preparing for future study in a wide range of fields. For stu­dents in the Technology stream, core courses in communications, computers, and personal development are enhanced by courses in math, chemistry, and physics. Graduates of the Technology stream are prepared for future study in college programs such as Civil Engineering Technology, Energy Systems Engineering Technician/Technology, Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technician/Technology,and Game Development Technician.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can affect an individual’s ability to communicate, socialize and function effectively at home, school and in their community. Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) can be used to develop new skills including language, social and play skills, self-help skills, academics, motor skills, life skills and appropriate behaviour.

Students in this highly specialized program learn to use a variety of evidence-based approaches to develop the skills of individuals with ASD across the lifespan by reviewing relevant literature, developing intervention plans, implementing programs, and collecting data to ensure intervention strategies effectively meet established goals.

Graduates:

• Understand the characteristics of the full spectrum of ASD and how human development occurs in the neuro-typical population;
• Know the range of evidence-based practices in autism treatment;
• Know how to complete curriculum-based assessments and functional assessments;
• Can plan, implement, and monitor interventions based on these assessment results;
• Know the ethical and professional requirements of working in the field of ABA
• Show leadership in the workplace by contributing knowledge and skills for practical solutions related to the treatment of ASD.

As this is a graduate certificate program, students can expect an intensive workload. Classes combine theory with active learning experiences and group work. Field placements are available in a range of settings and some may require the use of a vehicle.
