Modeled after the acclaimed and widely recognized Philosophy, Politics, and Economics major at Oxford University, the Politics, History & Economics (PHE) program at King's is a unique interdisciplinary degree that prepares students for life and careers in law, policy, the public sphere, and much more.

Why study three disciplines in one degree? Each discipline contributes unique understandings and expertise relevant to participation in the public sphere. Together, they equip students to think deeply and critically, and to flexibly apply a broad range of tools in complex, ever-changing situations.

Uncovering the intricate and wide-ranging relationships between organisms and their environments is at the heart of studying biology. At King’s, the biology program guides you to a deeper understanding of the complexity of life, in all its forms, so that you will become a better steward of creation.

Through laboratory experience and hands-on research in the field, students in the biology program study wild and wonderful creatures in their natural habitats, and gain insight into the mechanisms of human health and genetics. Biology students at King’s conduct research in the Rocky Mountains, analyze DNA in our biochemistry lab, and study plant life in our campus greenhouse. From human anatomy to molecular biology, King’s biology program digs deep into the inner workings of life in God’s creation.

A strong foundation in business starts with an understanding of management, administration, finance, and accounting. At King’s, we take business education one step further by integrating your faith. Emerging social and environmental concerns require tomorrow’s business leaders to find creative solutions. At the Leder School of Business, in addition to foundational knowledge and skills to navigate the business world, you will learn to creatively tackle new challenges that will shape the future – without compromising your core beliefs.

King’s business program offers five streams in general business, accounting, non-profit and social entrepreneurship, small business and entrepreneurship, and environmental management. The program is fully recognized and accredited by academic and industry organizations including Chartered Professional Accountants and the Canadian Institute of Management.

King's General Business program is a professional program designed to expose students to a wide breadth of business principles and practices. Students graduate prepared to tackle real-world business challenges and with a wide variety of skills employers are looking for.

Out of the five streams available to students in King's business program, the General Business stream provides the most flexibility. Students are able to choose from any of King's business courses and incorporate more courses from other disciplines. This makes it an excellent choice for students unsure of which direction they plan on proceeding in after graduation. Course selection varies widely depending on a student’s area of interest but may include a global learning experience at one of our partner business schools in Asia, Europe, or Africa.

A central task of philosophy is to criticize and examine to discover truth. Philosophy students at King's dig into valid and invalid forms of reasoning, seek to understand major developments in the history of Western political thought, wrestle with the theory of knowledge, and much more.

How do the ethical and aesthetic problems in the environment affect us as humans? How did St. Augustine in Medieval times think about divinity, or the integration faith and reason? What can be gleaned from Nietzsche's discussion of the causes and consequences of Nihilism? These are the kind of questions students ask as they examine the nature of humankind.

Political science studies the governance of public communities. The program focuses on political institutions such as the state, executive, courts, and legislatures, and it examines the role of citizens, public officials, interest groups, and political parties within the political system as a whole.

Cultivate your talents in performance, musicology, aural skills, and more. At King's, you will study the physical aspects of music—including theory and performance techniques—and its aesthetic qualities, as well as answer philosophical questions concerning its nature, origin, and development.

King's Music program guides you to a richer understanding of the role music plays in a well-lived life and engages in the beauty, drama, intellectual rigour, and healing power of western classical music. An equal emphasis is placed on classroom learning and private instrument instruction and you will find countless performance opportunities to hone your craft and do what you love—making music!

Psychology studies what motivates people to do the things they do and how society affects human thought, learning, and action. Students learn to critically engage assumptions about human nature and understand how these assumptions are important in our modern world and in the light of Christian faith.

Explore cognition and the activities of the mind and examine how physical disorders in the structural and chemical make-up of the brain can lead to behavioural and mental illness challenges. This degree is an excellent choice for those who want to enter professional programs such as law and education.

Chemistry is about creativity. Chemists design and create new molecules and explore their properties and reactivities. Putting this creative knowledge to work, chemists team up with biologists, pharmacologists, engineers, material scientists, and environmental professionals to reveal the secrets of life’s building blocks.

The program lets students come to a deeper understanding of the molecular world so they can engage with molecules to bring healing to a damaged and hurting world. Learn how to describe, visualize, interact with, and appreciate the molecular world from leading professors in the field and conduct extensive laboratory research projects.
