King's General Business program is a professional program designed to expose students to a wide breadth of business principles and practices. Students graduate prepared to tackle real-world business challenges and with a wide variety of skills employers are looking for.

Out of the five streams available to students in King's business program, the General Business stream provides the most flexibility. Students are able to choose from any of King's business courses and incorporate more courses from other disciplines. This makes it an excellent choice for students unsure of which direction they plan on proceeding in after graduation. Course selection varies widely depending on a student’s area of interest but may include a global learning experience at one of our partner business schools in Asia, Europe, or Africa.

Ever wonder why people listen to certain types of music, dress the way they do, commit crimes, or struggle with homelessness or addictions? Sociology engages these and other questions by looking deep into our social character and the systemic organization of human interaction.

The Sociology program at King's starts with one basic assumption: that human beings are social beings created in love and to love.

A Sociology degree helps students develop a variety of skills and insights that are vital for working and living well in today's world. Students develop research expertise, critical thinking skills, and decision-making skills while learning report preparation techniques; new communication, resolution, and leadership skills; and more.

It is becoming increasingly important for business leaders to consider environmental impacts when making business decisions. As the need for better environmental stewardship and taking actionable steps to address climate change becomes evident, a growing number of students want to combine their passion for environmental issues with good business practices. This stream lets you pursue both. In addition to selecting courses that prepare students to make sustainable business decisions, students in the Environmental Management stream are encouraged to take Environmental Studies and Geography courses that explore questions and problems related to environmental sustainability. 

Students in this stream can expect to be prepared for work in areas of environmental planning, global development, and other careers related to Christian ministry or justice issues.

King's flexible Interdisciplinary Science (I.Sci) program helps prepare students for science related careers by exploring disciplines such as biology, computing science, psychology, kinesiology, mathematics, and more at a broad level. In addition to equipping students to tackle challenges and discoveries in modern science, the program provides excellent preparation for those looking to continue on to professional school, teach science at a grade school level, or enter the workforce directly after graduation.

Hands-on learning experiences and a focus on collaborations between disciplines in the natural sciences allow students to study chemical biology, computational chemistry, and more, while also providing students with connections between science and fields such as public policy, business, theology, and others.

Program Highlights

• Specialize in any two concentrations from biology, kinesiology, chemistry, computing science, mathematics, physics, and psychology. These disciplines may also be used as teachable majors and minors for students looking to pursue an Education degree after graduation.

King's Environmental Studies (ENVS) B.A. and B.Sc. programs prepare students to address sustainability issues with a broad knowledge of its ecological, social, and economic dimensions. In addition to course work, internships and field trips provide practical, hands-on skills and experiences. The program introduces students to principles and practices for building environmentally sustainable societies and lifestyles by examining the causes of environmental harm, and exploring theories, policies, techniques, and management approaches that support the restoration and flourishing of our planet. 

Through King’s ENVS programs, students develop skills such as mapping, geographical information systems (GIS), environmental impact assessment, policy analysis, statistical analysis, and strong oral and written communication. Both Environmental Studies programs are fully accredited by Eco Canada and equip graduates for future employment in this fast growing and dynamic sector.

Bachelor of Arts: for students interested in the social or human aspects of environmental issues, such as government policy, human behaviour, social change, sustainable business practices, and environmental communication. These interests can be pursued through sub concentrations in Business Administration, Economics and Politics, Sociology, and others.

A central task of philosophy is to criticize and examine to discover truth. Philosophy students at King's dig into valid and invalid forms of reasoning, seek to understand major developments in the history of Western political thought, wrestle with the theory of knowledge, and much more.

How do the ethical and aesthetic problems in the environment affect us as humans? How did St. Augustine in Medieval times think about divinity, or the integration faith and reason? What can be gleaned from Nietzsche's discussion of the causes and consequences of Nihilism? These are the kind of questions students ask as they examine the nature of humankind.

Chemistry is about creativity. Chemists design and create new molecules and explore their properties and reactivities. Putting this creative knowledge to work, chemists team up with biologists, pharmacologists, engineers, material scientists, and environmental professionals to reveal the secrets of life’s building blocks.

The program lets students come to a deeper understanding of the molecular world so they can engage with molecules to bring healing to a damaged and hurting world. Learn how to describe, visualize, interact with, and appreciate the molecular world from leading professors in the field and conduct extensive laboratory research projects.

Cultivate your talents in performance, musicology, aural skills, and more. At King's, you will study the physical aspects of music—including theory and performance techniques—and its aesthetic qualities, as well as answer philosophical questions concerning its nature, origin, and development.

King's Music program guides you to a richer understanding of the role music plays in a well-lived life and engages in the beauty, drama, intellectual rigour, and healing power of western classical music. An equal emphasis is placed on classroom learning and private instrument instruction and you will find countless performance opportunities to hone your craft and do what you love—making music!

The accounting stream prepares students to wield numbers and financial management to succeed in the world of business. This program is fully accredited by CPA Alberta meaning graduates can pursue their professional accounting designation upon graduation. The accounting stream is also perfect for students looking to pursue careers related to finances and money management outside of the accounting profession.
