Environmental Studies and Sciences combines many different perspectives to understand the changes in our environment, while acknowledging human impacts and providing a framework to develop solutions for environmental programs. Interdisciplinary Linguistics examines the complexities of language use in daily communication within various social and cultural contexts. You’ll gain an in-depth understanding of how language encodes meaning, and gain skills to write, read and speak with greater confidence, fluency and power.

OBJECTIVES & OUTCOMES

The goal of the Financial Management Diploma is to provide students with managerial, accounting and financial knowledge and skills required for a wide variety of positions in the accounting and financial industry.  Students who complete this program may wish to continue post-secondary studies in order to fulfill an accounting designation, or pursue pathways leading to undergraduate and graduate level study.

he 4 Year BA in Indigenous Studies is more appropriate than the 3 Year BA in Indigenous Studies for preparing the student for graduate school. It allows flexibility of choice for students who want to sample a wide variety of courses; to develop a stronger understanding of Indigenous issues, peoples, and policies; and who wish to develop their skills in critical reading, writing, and thinking. Students will gain knowledge on Indigenous cultures, particularly Canada, much of it wish can be applicable in work situations in band, provincial, national and international settings as well as with non-profit and for-profit organizations.  It can be successful paired with any number of other majors – Indigenous Studies and Criminal Justice; Indigenous Studies and Politics, for example.

Because this program offers much freedom of choice, it is important for students to think carefully about their interests and goals when choosing courses. The field of finance has its roots in the discipline of economics and business. This program will provide students with the conceptual tools to understand a number of issues from modern finance theory and applications. The program will provide students with a solid understanding of the operation of capital markets and capital market instruments, including equities, fixed income securities, as well futures markets, options and other derivatives. The program will provide students with an in-depth understanding of topics in modern finance and financial economics as it relates to the capital structure of firms and how these financial instruments affect the overall operation of modern financial systems.

Students have the option of pursuing a BA in Economics and Finance or a BBA in Economics in Finance.

This degree investigates living systems by combining the knowledge and methodologies of biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, and microbiology with those of the physical sciences. Developmental Studies (DS) is a distinct field that draws on the integration of the perspectives and methods of many disciplines to provide a coherent analysis of the biological, environmental, and social factors that influence both individual and group development. As such, it has specific relevance to a growing number of occupations and professions, notably child care, gerontology, and family studies.

The Developmental Studies Program is an interdisciplinary major composed of offerings from a variety of Departments and programs. The DS program includes courses from Anthropology, Biology, Business and Administration, Conflict Resolution Studies, Education, English, Kinesiology and Applied Health, Politics, Psychology, Sociology, and Statistics.

Developmental Studies is well known for

• early learning research and publications;
• developing leaders and managers in inclusive early-childhood care and education;
• an established degree program in early childhood management and leadership, that is CCEPAC approved;
• its unique articulation program with Red River College and Université de Saint-Boniface;
• creating new advancement opportunities for early-childhood care and education professionals;

Stream A: Individual Human Development:-
The focus of Stream A is on individual human development ranging from prenatal and infant development to adolescent psychology and gerontology.

Anthropologists study the evolution of humankind by examining how humans have developed and adapted, both culturally and physically, to the world around them. Anthropology specializes in cultural anthropology, archaeology or physical anthropology, or you may choose an integrated program that includes all three areas. Practical experience is also available through the Archaeological Field School.

Political Science is the systematic study of power, authority and governance that helps us understand and engage in the important processes and institutions that structure our lives.

Whether we are conscious of it or not, politics affects our lives on a daily basis and in a vast number of ways. How we identify and think of ourselves, the activities we are permitted and encouraged to participate in, and how resources are allocated throughout society are all issues that Political Scientists study. Our Department offers a wide range of courses that examine the institutional, historical, ideological and economic aspects that frame our society. They consider such problems as relations between nation-states; the movement, cooperation and interactions of groups of people across state borders; the interactions between state and society; the nature of power and authority; and the impact of such things as political parties, interest groups, social classes and other societal organizations.
