From logistics to procurement, knowledge management to global sourcing, students cover all aspects of the supply chain management field, being challenged to apply theory to the practical workplace. Delivered by industry experts and supported by the Supply Chain Management Association - Manitoba (SCMA-MB), this program offers students an educational experience rooted in real-world experience and current industry needs.

OBJECTIVES & OUTCOMES
The Supply Chain Management Diploma program prepares graduates to work as at the management level in the supply chain field, providing a comprehensive foundation in the theory and practices of supply chain management based on the best practices and industry standards in Canada.

Be on the cutting edge of innovation with a diploma in AI and machine learning. Artificial intelligence and machine learning is a branch of data science growing at full speed. We see the application of artificial intelligence in our daily lives, from checking the weather forecast to social media feeds, from banking and finance to healthcare, amongst others.

In this program, graduates master the skills to create and use problem-solving algorithms to provide insights, predictions, and operationalization strategies needed to transform any organization into an innovative, efficient, and sustainable company of the future.

OBJECTIVES & OUTCOMES
The use of artificial intelligence is common place on devices ranging from personal smartphones to large industrial equipment. From simple algorithms to complex decision making, this program ensures that graduates have a firm, applied knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning.  While the curriculum and learning outcomes include establishing a general understanding of the theories underlying AI, greater emphasis is placed on the application of these techniques in a practical setting.

Successful graduates of this program shall be able to:

• Design and implement data acquisition, management, and cleansing solutions to support data science applications;
• Use statistical techniques in the development of data science applications;
• Describe legal, ethical, and societal considerations arising from the application of data science and artificial intelligence;
• Identify suitable applications and recommend the use of AI within an organization;
• Design the overall solution architecture required to support AI; and
• Design, test, and implement applied AI solutions.

This degree focuses on the prevention and care of muscle, bone and joint injuries as they occur in sport, recreation, fitness and in the workplace. Students will learn to assess the cause and severity of an injury and provide the most effective rehabilitation and return to sport/recreation/work protocol.

The specialization in Creative Writing focuses not only on reading and studying works of literary art, but on learning how to create them as well. See the Frequently Asked Questions, above, for more information.

Sample Program
This is only one example of one possible path through the program. Students should normally begin with  2102 and 2002 and then take 3101. After that, they may take CW courses in any order.  Paths will differ, depending on students' interests, the number of courses they take each year, and which courses are offered in any given year. The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree offered through the Department of Business and Administration is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in business, in the private, public or non-profit sectors. We nurture socially conscious business leaders and entrepreneurs that are capable of adapting to the ever-changing needs of the modern business world.

The Business and Administration program develops critical thinking, analytic and decision-making abilities, oral and written communication skills, and the self-confidence to effectively apply these skills. Some courses in the program are taught using the case method, a simulation of real business situations from the perspective of the actual decision-maker. Computer-based simulations, experiential exercises, guest speakers, and field trips are also used to connect course material to the business world.

The three-year BBA is an excellent complement to a major or degree in another field and is intended to be readily accessible as a part of a double degree program upon completion of additional coursework.

Applied computer science is the study of how and where computers work. It includes designing hardware and software, building database and operating systems, and programming for the internet. UWinnipeg’s program covers each of these areas, giving you an understanding of how they connect to create vast networks. In the four-year major, you’ll gain practical experience and build teamwork skills as you take on a team-based software project for a local IT company.

Applied Computer Science - Health Informatics Stream
The Health Informatics(HI) stream provides students with more focused courses in Health information needs, infrastructure, standards, and jurisdiction. This stream has been designed in close cooperation with Manitoba e-Health. The HI stream includes upper year courses to address specific needs of the Health industry, e.g., Health Care information requirements and standards, regulatory environment, clinical terminologies, standards and professional practice. The HI stream complements offerings of the ACS department, and gives students flexibility of combining all three areas of IT, Business, and Health.

Women's and Gender Studies promotes an intersectional approach to understanding social problems and phenomena. It pays special attention to the ways sex, gender, and sexuality are shaped by colonialism, racism, ageism, homophobia, and transphobia, as well as by constructions of difference based on class, (dis)ability, religion, ethnicity, and culture. Our unique department brings these perspectives to the university, and represents feminism in the academy. In our classes, students of all genders and sexualities learn about feminist movements to end sexism, exploitation, and related social oppressions. The department encourages diversity among its students and in its curriculum, and offers the means to contribute to social change.
Currently, there is a demonstrated need for people with a background in Women's and Gender Studies to take up work in such areas as social services, education, policy development, welfare, health care, counselling and therapy, law, media, advertising, public administration, finance, and management.

As of May 2016, students will be able to register in this Specialization and it will be noted on their transcripts.

The Screen and Cultural Studies Specialization focuses not only on literary texts, but also on cinematic, media, and cultural texts. Courses in this area reflect an interest in literary and cultural history; literary and cinematic forms, movements, and genres; cultural and critical theory; audience and reception studies; and the intersections between literature, film and other forms of cultural production.

All students are welcome to take courses in this area, whether they choose the specialization or not.

By utilizing a combination of theory, research, and lived experience, sociologists explore human behaviour as it occurs over time and across cultures. They ask questions such as: Why is there poverty? Is there a relationship between delinquency and social class? How do immigrants manage new and diverse experiences? What effect will an aging population have on society? How can class, sex, gender, age, and ethnicity be understood as part of social life?

In The University of Winnipeg's Sociology programme, you will investigate and analyze how various groups and organizations are structured, their purposes, and how they function. You will study how and why they change, and the effects of these changes on society.

The currency, variety, and depth of courses in this discipline allow students to develop a sound understanding of how the social world works, and how this knowledge can be applied to a diversity of pursuits.

The Sociology Department offers 3-year BA, 4-year BA, and Honours degree programmes plus a Minor and Research Methods Certificate. A student whose Major lies in a different area may still study Sociology as an elective. Courses in Sociology complement such areas as Politics, History, Psychology, Education, Criminal Justice, Women's and Gender Studies, and Environmental Studies. Some interdisciplinary majors also require certain Sociology courses as part of their programmes.

An undergraduate degree in Sociology enables one to pursue a variety of vocations in areas such as social welfare, criminal justice, government, research, industrial relations, and administration. Provincial and federal government offices hire a large number of persons with a Sociology background. For those who wish to proceed to studies at the graduate level, a career in university teaching and research is also an option.
