With a broad foundation of PR and marketing-specific knowledge, this program emphasizes best practices, tackles current and emerging issues, and develops the skill set to be a leader in the field.

Objectives & Outcomes

• Identify, analyze and influence organizational objectives, communications strategies and key interest groups
• Guide management on key business and policy decisions
• Develop public relations strategies that create awareness and favourable perception, and/or promote your products and services and set measurable objectives from which to evaluate their effectiveness
• Build collegial and cooperative relationships with a variety of public interest groups, internal and external clients, and the media
• Design and implement a media relations strategy expanding your visibility in the community
• Analyze consume buying patterns, employ marketing tools and research methodologies to determine environmental and competitive factors affecting products and services, and develop new products and/or services meriting consumer interest and increasing market share
• Master public relations communications writing template including: a well-tooled press kit, news releases, annual reports, newsletters, brochure content, and personality profiles
• Plan and direct the crisis and change management process
• Coordinate and prepare material for internal and external promotional publications, including planning articles, editing copy, supervising print preparation, distributing publications
• Gain an understanding of digital communication technologies, their impact in traditional approaches to public relations and marketing, and how to adapt print-based collaterals for this new medium
• Exercise sound financial decision-making and budgeting skills

Chemistry is the essential science to the building blocks of life. It spans all aspects of our lives, from our health and nutrition to our scientific discoveries and management of an environmentally sustainable world. A degree in this “central science” can take you anywhere, allowing you to specialize in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, or physical chemistry.

Why do people think, feel, perceive, and behave the way they do? Psychologists seek to find answers to these questions by studying the human mind and behaviour. The Psychology program, explores topics ranging from the basic nervous system to principles of perception, learning, and cognition to gain an understanding of both social and clinical psychology.

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree offered through the Department of Business and Administration is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in business, in the private, public or non-profit sectors. We nurture socially conscious business leaders and entrepreneurs that are capable of adapting to the ever-changing needs of the modern business world.

The Business and Administration program develops critical thinking, analytic and decision-making abilities, oral and written communication skills, and the self-confidence to effectively apply these skills. Some courses in the program are taught using the case method, a simulation of real business situations from the perspective of the actual decision-maker. Computer-based simulations, experiential exercises, guest speakers, and field trips are also used to connect course material to the business world.

The three-year BBA is an excellent complement to a major or degree in another field and is intended to be readily accessible as a part of a double degree program upon completion of additional coursework.

Combining aspects of anthropology with biological and physical sciences, Bioanthropology program teaches you to examine human biological systems of the past and present. You’ll gain understanding of comparative anatomy, cellular biology, and methods in human and primate evolution as you obtain experience in current laboratory techniques and procedures

Economics analyzes how societies provide for their well-being, and examines the choices and tradeoffs that are made in the face of limited resources. You’ll study the competition and cooperation that arises among individuals, private organizations, and governments in the process of allocating scarce resources for a variety of different uses. Economics also offers insight into politics, law, history, environment, and development.

One may obtain the Economics Major through the 3-Year BA, the 4-Year BA or the BA Honours degree program. Some of the courses we offer are recommended for interdisciplinary programs, and it is common for other departments in the University to require or recommend certain Economics courses. The BA in Economics is highly recommended for students planning to go into law, accounting, or business studies.

The East Asian region constitutes one of the most dynamic and intellectually rich regions in the world. The impact of East Asian economic development has been keenly felt in recent decades and the region has a major impact on world affairs. The legacy of East Asian history, religious and social values, literatures, etc., is a major factor in current affairs in the region, and this legacy will continue to shape our global future.

The EALC program is devoted to the study of East Asian cultures. The program introduces students to East Asian cultures and societies through two components: a) the study of East Asian languages (Chinese—Mandarin and Classical, and Japanese), and b) the study of East Asian cultures through a multi-disciplinary approach (Religious Studies, History, Literature, Cinema, Economics, International Development Studies). A unique feature of the program is its focus on the intellectual legacy of East Asian cultures, introduced through the study of texts and ideas in the historical and cultural contexts that shaped them. The rationale for this focus is a belief that just as East Asian economies are having a global impact beyond the East Asian region, intellectual beliefs and cultural habits will challenge hitherto global presuppositions regarding accepted practices and habits of thought.

The EALC program is administered through the Department of Religion & Culture. Graduates who are interested in careers related to East Asia in fields such as education, government, and business benefit greatly from courses in East Asian Languages & Cultures.

Our program has been designed so that students will acquire enough skills and knowledge to work in different sectors as a data scientist or data analyst. Our students will be able to have great contributions to make optimal decisions and strategies through analysing huge and unstructured data that are growing every day.

This degree focuses on the prevention and care of muscle, bone and joint injuries as they occur in sport, recreation, fitness and in the workplace. Students will learn to assess the cause and severity of an injury and provide the most effective rehabilitation and return to sport/recreation/work protocol.

Women's and Gender Studies seeks to foster awareness and appreciation of the realities and diverse experiences of women. You’ll develop critical consciousness of social inequalities affecting women, including those based on gender, age, race, class, disability and sexual orientation.
