The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree offered through the Department of Business and Administration is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in business, in the private, public or non-profit sectors. We nurture socially conscious business leaders and entrepreneurs that are capable of adapting to the ever-changing needs of the modern business world.

The Business and Administration program develops critical thinking, analytic and decision-making abilities, oral and written communication skills, and the self-confidence to effectively apply these skills. Some courses in the program are taught using the case method, a simulation of real business situations from the perspective of the actual decision-maker. Computer-based simulations, experiential exercises, guest speakers, and field trips are also used to connect course material to the business world.

The three-year BBA is an excellent complement to a major or degree in another field and is intended to be readily accessible as a part of a double degree program upon completion of additional coursework.

If you enjoy thinking about life’s big questions, you might be a natural philosopher. Philosophy engages in disciplined and imaginative thinking about the philosophical questions common to all humans by studying the works of great philosophers. Through analysis and discussion, you’ll learn how to think critically, and understand the origins of the ideas that influence us today.

Philosophy is literally the love of wisdom. Rather than studying a particular aspect of human history or culture, philosophy takes a step back and tries to understand the nature of all inquiry. Students of philosophy examine fundamental beliefs about who we are and the world we live in – beliefs most people take to be true but never examine systematically and critically. Philosophers consider such questions as: What is the meaning of life? How should I live my life? Why be moral? What is the best form of government? Are human beings immortal? Does God exist? What is knowledge? Does the world appear to us as it really is? What makes something right, or good, or beautiful?

If coming to an understanding of the human condition is the goal of a liberal arts education, then philosophy is essential to it. But philosophy also has a practical side, which we see whenever we debate social and political questions concerning the environment and our obligations to future generations, the distribution of wealth and opportunity in society, gender equity, the relationship between science and religion, and so on. Philosophy helps us to identify and defend what is most valuable to us.

The UW Philosophy Program prides itself on being small and student-focused; this is a place where you can work closely with professors and other students in small classes, reading great philosophers from the past, and thinking and writing about the big questions.

Theatre and Film – one of the largest in Canada – includes the opportunity to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in one of six different areas of study: Acting and Directing, Design, Drama in Education, Filmmaking, Playwriting, Stage Management or Production. The Department also offers a BA (Honours) in Acting, Directing, Design, Playwriting, and Stage Management and Production.  Your coursework will encompass a full range of practical and theoretical study, and will prepare you for an exciting career in the arts.

The Department of Kinesiology and Applied Health at The University of Winnipeg is student-centred with small classes and labs and accessible professors. Our professors have expertise and research interests in areas that include adapted physical activity, physical activity and aging, sports nutrition, coaching, sport and exercise psychology, motor behaviour, exercise physiology, biomechanics and prevention, care and treatment of muscle, bone and joint injuries.

How do the brain and nervous system control behaviour? This program provides you with an understanding of the integrated relationship between biology and psychology. In Biopsychology you’ll develop a strong understanding of the structure and function of the nervous system as you explore the relationship between the nervous system and behaviour.

Economics analyzes how societies provide for their well-being, and examines the choices and tradeoffs that are made in the face of limited resources. You’ll study the competition and cooperation that arises among individuals, private organizations, and governments in the process of allocating scarce resources for a variety of different uses. Economics also offers insight into politics, law, history, environment, and development.

One may obtain the Economics Major through the 3-Year BA, the 4-Year BA or the BA Honours degree program. Some of the courses we offer are recommended for interdisciplinary programs, and it is common for other departments in the University to require or recommend certain Economics courses. The BA in Economics is highly recommended for students planning to go into law, accounting, or business studies.

Interdisciplinary Linguistics examines the complexities of language use in daily communication within various social and cultural contexts. You’ll gain an in-depth understanding of how language encodes meaning, and gain skills to write, read and speak with greater confidence, fluency and power.

Stream C is a joint program offered by the University of Winnipeg (UW) and Red River College (RRC) or the Université de St. Boniface (USB). By combining the resources of both UW and either RRC or USB, students are able to earn both a two-year diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and a three-year Bachelor of Arts degree in Developmental Studies (Child Development and Child Care) in a four-year period of full-time study. Graduates of this stream are eligible for the highest classification: Early Childhood Education (ECE) III from the Manitoba Department of Families (Early Learning and Child Care Program). The UW offers the only degree-granting professional program in Early Childhood Education in Manitoba.

Stream C prepares graduates for a variety of positions, including child-care specialists who function as centre directors, supervisors and early childhood educators; and staff specializing in programs for the developmentally delayed and care for children with additional learning needs

This degree investigates living systems by combining the knowledge and methodologies of biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, and microbiology with those of the physical sciences. A degree in Biochemistry will prepare you for work in vario Biochemistry is an interdisciplinary program which combines Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Genetics, and Microbiology with the techniques of the physical sciences to investigate living systems.

Through this program, you will gain a thorough understanding of the molecular aspects of the structure, function, and metabolism of prokaryotes, animals, and plants. You will also obtain experience in up-to-date laboratory techniques and procedures.

This is one of the most exciting areas of science at this time and students will be kept abreast of advances in the field and their impact on humans and other life forms.

The University of Winnipeg offers three Biochemistry Degrees: B.Sc. (3-yr), B.Sc. (4-yr), and B.Sc. (Honours). As a graduate, you will be well qualified to work in university, government, and other research laboratories or in the pharmaceutical and food industries. Graduates with a 4-Year B.Sc. or B.Sc. (Honours) could also proceed to graduate studies in the Life Sciences.

From essential training in project management and business writing, to web security, information architecture, and network administration this program develops a complete skill set for IT professionals. Graduates gain experience with a wide variety of web programming technologies (including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) and PHP programming.

OBJECTIVES

• Develop hands-on skills in web development applications and programming languages such as HTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript, PHP, APS.net, and Java;
• Apply Adobe Photoshop to the visual design of Websites;
• Gain a solid understanding of best practices in search engine optimization (SEO);
• Create web pages in past, current, and emerging standards using HTML, XHTML, CSS, and XML
• Create rich multimedia files using Flash
• Use, edit and customize Dreamweaver and a variety of content management systems including Wordpress, Drupal, and Joomla for agile web development purposes;
• Plan, design, and create relational database systems;
• Understand TCP/IP and Networking in general to help trouble shoot issues and design solutions to potential performance problems;
• Gain an understanding of security problems in order to install, set-up, and secure a Web server.
