Obtain extensive exposure to the cutting edge of modern biology focusing on biology at the smallest scale. Build a strong foundation in all aspects of biology before specializing in biochemical techniques, regulation of gene expression, biotechnology, and microbiology. The program involves extensive laboratory experiences.

Study in British Columbia with Canada's premier Nursing program. Prepare yourself for the challenges and rewards of the nursing profession. The BScN program gives you the technical knowledge, human understanding and practical skills to administer responsible and client-centered care as a registered nurse (RN) in a variety of health care practice agencies (institutional, community and international) and with people who have a variety of health concerns.

Businesses across the public and private sectors are increasingly incorporating these considerations into their planning. Two program options: same core content, choose your specialization
Both two-year programs provide graduates with a broad knowledge of the business environment and specialized environmental economics and sustainability knowledge. In addition to the shared core content, each program offers a specialization:

• Master in Environmental Economics and Management (MEEM)
• Master of Science in Environmental Economics and Management (MScEEM)

Program structure

• Both degrees are divided into two parts:
  • Year One: Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (GDBA)
  • Year Two: MEEM or MScEEM degree

Year 1 Graduate Diploma in Business Administration - two semesters
The purpose of the Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (GDBA) is to ensure all students, regardless of their educational backgrounds, have the business knowledge and skills to successfully apply the economic sustainable management principles learned. Students must complete the six courses in the GDBA to be admitted to the masters degree, but may receive a course waiver for some or all of the GDBA courses based on their previous academic record. Applicants with a four-year business degree from an acceptable institution may be eligible to proceed directly to the masters degree.

Year 2 Master in Environmental Economics and Management (MEEM)
A course-based program that prepares graduates to make major contributions to the field of economic sustainable management. They acquire a broad understanding of the business environment, advanced management skills and specialized knowledge in the emerging area of sustainability.

One-year option

• If you’ve recently graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Commerce, you may be eligible to enter directly into the second year of the program and complete your graduate degree in 12 months.

Of interest to students who have a non-business degree and want to return to university for one or two years to acquire a specialty in a functional area of business. Students with a first degree in business, but who want to change their area of focus, may complete a post-baccalaureate diploma as well.

Get the first-year knowledge you need for all engineering disciplines while developing hands-on practical skills for Foundation and Level 2 electrical instrumentation apprenticeship. Graduates can pursue second-year engineering at the University of Victoria, a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Technology Leadership, or a Bachelor of Technology.

Criminology prepares students for careers in policing, justice, victimology and law enforcement. Criminology is both a subject of academic study and a field of practice. Graduates of a Criminology degree will have extensive knowledge of the key social and psychological factors that lead to, and can prevent criminological and deviant behaviour. Criminology students develop many skills including:

Substantive skills

• Criminologists develop the ability to understand criminal and deviant behaviour at work in society so that they can better evaluate proposed changes or resistances to change.

Analytical skills

• Criminology provides the ability to identify the contributing parts of a problem and to evaluate proposals for change.
• Critical thinking skills
• Criminology students learn to synthesize existing theoretical knowledge, and research information, and the processes of evaluating arguments and solutions.
• Research and data analysis skills
• Criminology students learn how data are collected and analyzed, how data are used to test hypotheses, and how to evaluate the work presented in research studies and the popular media.

Communication skills

• Criminology courses provide practice in effective communication in written and oral forms. Students are encouraged to develop their ability to explain and interpret as well as to clarify and summarize.

The MBA focuses on producing managers and leaders who can meet these challenges with emphasis on decision making in an uncertain environment, interpersonal and communication skills, ethics and social responsibility, and globalization. An MBA can give you broad-based management skills to advance to leadership roles. It can help you to accelerate your career advancement or start your own business.

Learn the fundamentals to accurately assess human activities in the environment.

Learn the skills you need for a rewarding career as a generalist social work practitioner in various fields of practice, such as child welfare, mental health, addictions, women s services, family justice, corrections, health and Indigenous people. The BSW program has an orientation toward social justice, respect for diversity and social change.
