History can be directly applied to career such as history and social studies teachers, college and university professors, researchers, museum curators and archivists. It can also prepare students for careers in law, journalism, library work, publishing, government, business, and politics.

Horticulture is the culture of vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers, turf grass, and ornamental plants. The settings for this culture may extend from the back yard grower to large commercial operations, such as green houses, orchards, vegetable farms, turfgrass operations, forestry seedling nurseries, garden centers, golf courses, municipal parks, landscaping, and landscape maintenance firms.

People working in the horticulture industry should have a strong interest in plants and like the hands on aspect of the work. Depending on the scope of work, many of the positions within the industry involve working outside in a variety of weather conditions.

Learn landscape maintenance techniques, equipment operation, pest management, landscape design and construction, plant identification, pruning techniques, plant propagation methods and basic irrigation hydraulics. Learn from strong teaching and research expertise about sustainable urban and rural landscapes, environmental geography, economic geography, hydrology, climatology, geomorphology and emerging geomatic technologies, including Geographical Information Systems (GIS).

Build a strong foundation in all aspects of biology before specializing in biochemical techniques, regulation of gene expression, biotechnology, and microbiology. The program involves extensive laboratory experiences.

Of interest to students who have a non-business degree and want to return to university for one or two years to acquire a specialty in a functional area of business. Students with a first degree in business, but who want to change their area of focus, may complete a post-baccalaureate diploma as well.

As you move through the program, your courses will include areas such as engineering, business, computing science and project management.

Software engineering is the study of how software is built and maintained and includes project management and testing. Our students like the program’s practical, hands-on approach.

Co-op program:-
Co-operative education is a requirement of the degree. During your Co-op experience you will receive paid and relevant work experience, allowing you to apply theory learned in the classroom, explore interests related to the field of study and advance skills as a professional while strengthening your resumé. In the fourth year of study, students are required to complete two mandatory co-op work terms.

Our program is designed to meet the criteria of the Engineers Canada Accreditation Board. Graduates will meet all of the educational requirements for registration as a professional engineer through APEGBC. Up to 12 months of co-op work may count towards the work experience required for professional designation.
