We are dedicated to preparing graduates with the skills to provide quality tourist experiences, develop and manage tourism businesses with entrepreneurial spirit, and contribute to community development in a manner that is environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.

Some industry experts consider special events and conventions to be the fastest growing segment of the Canadian tourism industry. This program is designed to provide a practical overview of the function, skills and knowledge required to successfully plan, organize, manage, promote, and evaluate a festival, convention, trade show, or special event. Event planning is a very detail-oriented business. As a result, this program will appeal to individuals who have a high regard for details and the creative ability to manage special events and conventions from inception to fruition.

Expand your career options as a respiratory therapist. Graduate with both a three-year Respiratory Therapy diploma and a BHS degree within a four-year period in the dual diploma/degree stream. Year one is the same for both the RT diploma and dual credential.

The accounting major is a rigorous program that prepares students to become an integral part of an organization's financial management team or to enter public practice as an auditor, tax specialist, or consultant. Governments, non-profits, major corporations, small businesses, and high-worth individuals all need accountants to manage their financial affairs.

The two main focusses of accounting are public and management accounting. Public accountants provide audit, tax, and consulting services to the organizations that engage their services. Management accountants work for an organization providing professional service to that same organization like a corporation or government entity.

Upon graduation, most students choose to pursue the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. With the Accounting Major, students will receive all Exemptions from the CPA Prerequisite Education Program (PREP) and move directly to the CPA Professional Educational Program (PEP) if they meet the Grade Requirement. Here they engage in advanced study and learn how to integrate material relating to the six CPA core competency areas of financial reporting, strategy and governance, management accounting, audit and assurance, finance, and taxation. PEP consists of five modules and an exam preparation course and culminates in students writing the rigorous Common Final Exam. After completing the 30-month work experience requirement, students are awarded the CPA designation.

Once they are established in the profession, many accountants go on to earn a second, more specialized designation. Some also complete graduate degrees and pursue careers in education or research at the college or university level. No matter what they choose, accountants are professionals who make a life-long commitment to remaining current in the discipline. The CPA society enforces this through its professional development requirements.

For those students wanting only an exposure to accounting, an accounting minor is also available.

The MBA focuses on producing managers and leaders who can meet these challenges with emphasis on decision making in an uncertain environment, interpersonal and communication skills, ethics and social responsibility, and globalization. An MBA can give you broad-based management skills to advance to leadership roles. It can help you to accelerate your career advancement or start your own business.

Our Bridge to Business program provides networking and collaboration opportunities with local businesses, and students with a business administration background have the option to complete the MBA in just one year.

Post-baccalaureate diploma will be of interest to students who have a non-business degree, and who want to return to university for one or two years to acquire a specialty in a functional area of business in order to enhance their employment opportunities. Students with a first degree in business, but who want to change their area of focus, may complete a post-baccalaureate diploma as well.

Post-baccalaureate diplomas are also valuable to international students who wish to come to Canada to learn English, gain exposure to the culture, and study in a compressed format. Many who do so have already studied business in their own country and have received transfer credit that reduces the length of the program

Learn the basics of working in the field of tourism while developing skills for resort and hotel management. Topics include planning, marketing, and services, plus engagement with culture and the natural environment. Learn about hotel operations, information technology, event management and tourism entrepreneurship.

The Accounting Technician Diploma is a two-year program designed to prepare graduates for positions as para-professionals that serve alongside professional accountants in industry, public practice, and government doing much of the support work. Graduates find employment with public accounting firms working on files and basic tax returns; as payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, or general accounting clerks in larger organizations; or as bookkeepers with smaller businesses.

Students acquire a foundation in tourism related subjects including marketing, cultural issues, applied research methods, product operations and risk management. Students are then be free to explore a range of related topics such as rock climbing, surfing and skiing as well as programming, consulting and ecotourism.

The BA degree offers a variety of majors and minors while ensuring a comprehensive foundation in the liberal arts. Flexible, innovative programs include opportunities for undergraduate research, co-op, field schools and study abroad. Cultivate skills like communication, critical thinking, teamwork and leadership, and apply your knowledge in real-world settings.
