We encourage our students to engage in undergraduate research with their computing science professors. These research projects often result in students presenting their work at international conferences. Past students have coauthored papers with their professors and published their findings in peer-reviewed journals, providing them with valuable experience and identifiable skills.

Through our program, our students gain expertise in their area, as well as character development, as they learn to navigate between technology and society from a distinctly Christian worldview. Graduates from our computing science program stand out as confident professionals and choose from a variety of career paths, such as: software developer, systems manager, support specialist, trainer, software engineer, technical writer, software tester or supporter, and entrepreneur.

Biotechnology—creating technology or products from cellular and biomolecular processes, often DNA technology—is one of the fastest growing and innovative scientific sectors.

Our students study the science behind breakthrough discoveries that revolutionized gene editing, stem cell research, green energy, and big data in personalized medicine. Our students learn in the classroom and lab, as well as in a chosen field alongside biotechnology experts. Our students gain the knowledge, expertise, ethical framework, and contacts necessary to achieve a successful career in the life sciences. Our Biotechnology degree not only fast-tracks you for careers in life science, it also meets standard entry requirements for medical school and other professional schools.

On-campus, students have access to our new biology and analytical chemistry research laboratories, our confocal microscopy suite, and our on-campus Ecosystem Study Area to put classroom techniques to practice. Our students gain marketable skills and networks through co-op placements and practicums.

A mix of lecture, case analysis, and hands-on projects, the School of Business marketing specialization provides students the opportunity to utilize their knowledge and skills at the strategic and tactical level, including key components such as product line management, media strategy development, interactive marketing, e-marketing, and more.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Acting is designed to train professional actors. Even more than that, theatre training is great training for life. It informs your relationships, makes you an engaging public speaker, teaches teamwork, and invites you to discover yourself and your story.

As a sociology major, you will gain the knowledge and skills to understand people and contemporary culture.

Our exceptional faculty have specialized in culture, race and ethnicity, social inequality, family, religion, and social change. Our sociology students also have the option of completing the Human Services certificate program. This program has an applied focus in sociology, with opportunities to choose from a wide variety of practicums in helping professions. Practicums include areas in social service agencies that are governmental, non-governmental, profit or non-profit organizations, or faith-based organizations.

Sociology students may complete a semester at the Laurentian Leadership Centre in Ottawa, where they complete classes toward their degree while enjoying a rewarding internship.

TWU and Belhaven University’s Dual Degree program is a rare opportunity to earn two master’s degrees at once in less time and at a lower cost than if taken individually.

The Dual Degree program gives you twice the opportunity to build on your IT and leadership skills with the unique chance to graduate with TWU’s Master of Arts in Leadership and Belhaven University’s Master of Science in Information Technology Management.

TWU (Canada) and Belhaven (USA), both accredited and respected North American faith-based universities, have created a merged program on the beautiful TWU campus in British Columbia. Complete two master’s degrees with fewer courses in as little as 20 months, and you’ll spend 30% less than if you were to take the two master’s degrees separately.

The Dual Degree program has additional benefits for international students:

• Eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) in Canada
• Significantly increased chances of successfully applying for permanent residency (PR within the PGWP timeframe after graduation)

Program Delivery
Courses will be provided by both universities with a unique hybrid delivery where students will take TWU courses in person at the Langley or Richmond university campus and Belhaven courses online. Both universities will transfer nine credits into each other’s master’s degree programs saving students time, coursework, and cost—effectively removing the need for six courses. This will allow for the TWU/Belhaven degrees to both be completed in just 20 months. The TWU learning environment will meet all necessary Canadian requirements for students’ immediate study and post-graduation work permits (PGWP).

The video game industry is massive and global, earning over $40 billion in the US alone last year. Market trends show it will continue to be a major employer of well-paid, highly skilled professionals.

Our unique Game Development program is unlike any other program. You will gain the technical skills you need to develop video games and knowledge about the entrepreneurial aspects of the business—all while gaining experience and developing your specialization in a range of team-based activities.

Beginning as early as your second year, you will work on three intensive projects to create and market video games. As in the industry, you will work within an entrepreneurial and interdisciplinary team environment to drive the projects from concept stage to promotion - creating business models and monitoring costs and revenues. In addition to building your portfolio through experiential learning, TWU’s liberal arts core and focus on holistic education will equip you to be a valuable contributor and leader in your field.

As a student in the Geography and Environment Department (GENV), you will examine some of the most significant issues facing our planet and its inhabitants, including climate change, species extinction, habitat fragmentation, urbanization, poverty, and development.

Our GENV programs combine the strengths of a variety of disciplines across two faculties: the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities (FHSS) and the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences (FNAS). These combined strengths provide you with a holistic understanding of issues that cut across a variety of fields, opening up a wide range of employment opportunities.

Our campus’s close proximity to freshwater, mountain, saltwater, and island habitats, as well as urban, rural and agricultural areas means that you will gain a wealth of hands-on experience in environmental stewardship and management and community development practices. Our Geographic Information Systems (GIS) lab and expertise provides up-to-date skills training in GIS.

You will learn from professors with extensive expertise in diverse fields such as ecological restoration, sustainable agriculture, marine biology, landscape ecology, chemical ecology, urban and regional planning, resource management, physical and human geography, and geomatics. Also, the faculty and staff engaged in running the GENV programs provide leadership in the local community and more globally in their scholarship and in more practical ways as they approach the task of serving humanity and creation stewardship.

The Christianity and Culture program has a strong interdisciplinary approach that gives our students a broad understanding of the relationship of Christianity to western culture by educating students in the historic and living traditions of the Christian Church.

Our program prepares students for graduate theological studies and provides a solid foundation for students who desire to enter ministry. Through core biblical studies classes, our students explore the relationship between the historic Christian faith and contemporary values, issues, and institutions. Our students deepen their understanding of the world through electives such as Philosophy, English, or History.
