With a faculty of dedicated and experienced professionals, our Philosophy program aims to challenge and improve your logical and critical-thinking skills.

You will learn about historic thinkers and influential writings that have shaped the world, while creatively engaging in solving some of the most significant problems facing contemporary culture. You will develop the skills to understand and evaluate ideas. Through our philosophy courses, you will refine your perspectives on the importance of ethics, how humans think, and the need to think consistently and clearly. A Philosophy degree prepares you for many career opportunities including law, business, and government.

Students who graduate form the Kinesiology Stream within the School of Human Kinetics, have many professional opportunities including membership in BCAK (British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists), certification as fitness leaders, personal trainers, performance coaches and advancement into further studies in health, medicine, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, and more.

Within the Kinesiology Stream, there is an opportunity for students to specialize in strength and conditioning. This ‘specialization’ is recognized through the National Strength and Condtioning Association (NSCA) as an ‘Approved Educational Program (one of only 3 in Canada). Throughout the Kinesiology program, students are also prepared to write NSCA certification exams for CSCS – Certified Strength & Condtioning Specialist and CPT – Certified Personal Trainer.

Our students explore Jewish and Christian Scriptures, both historically and theologically, in order to gain an understanding of how these texts have profoundly shaped past and present communities of faith.

Led by our close-knit faculty of committed and active scholars in the Department of Religious Studies, our students are encouraged to broaden their understanding of Scripture and to investigate current critical issues within the discipline of Biblical Studies. As our students advance in their studies, they gain a comprehensive understanding of biblical texts.

Our students learn to formulate their own contributions to scholarly conversations, along with the skills to communicate these ideas in a manner that is professional, compelling, and—ultimately—faith affirming.

Emerging diseases, environmental sustainability, and genomics are just a few topics that you will investigate. At TWU, you will be prepared for a career in the health sciences, research, or education, with solid training in science and ethics from a Christian worldview.

Our biology faculty are experts in their fields who integrate research, love for teaching, and Christian faith in the classroom. As a biology student, you will have the opportunity to work with faculty on cutting-edge research in cell biology and genetics, ecology and environmental biology, and applied and medical microbiology. This valuable research experience, coupled with our rigorous curriculum, can lead you to high-profile medical, dental, veterinary, and graduate programs around the world.

As a sociology major, you will gain the knowledge and skills to understand people and contemporary culture.

Our exceptional faculty have specialized in culture, race and ethnicity, social inequality, family, religion, and social change. Our sociology students also have the option of completing the Human Services certificate program. This program has an applied focus in sociology, with opportunities to choose from a wide variety of practicums in helping professions. Practicums include areas in social service agencies that are governmental, non-governmental, profit or non-profit organizations, or faith-based organizations.

Sociology students may complete a semester at the Laurentian Leadership Centre in Ottawa, where they complete classes toward their degree while enjoying a rewarding internship.

Europe provides a fascinating area of study--a complex blend of states with a rich history of rivalries and alliances, obvious similarities and glaring distinctions, with religion playing a major role in shaping its art, culture, philosophy, and law.

TWU’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences offers a multidisciplinary major in European Studies for students interested in Europe’s social, economic, political, and spiritual aspects. It’s a stimulating interdisciplinary research environment for both faculty and students, promoting academic excellence in research, publications, and teaching on European issues. There are numerous travel study opportunities in places such as London, Geneva, Rome, and Paris. The European Studies major offers three streams of study: language, history, and English literature and fine arts.

Our Music program provides Christ-centred mentorship and exciting peer collaborations, along with abundant opportunities to hone your musical and leadership skills. With a finger on the pulse of a company's clients and customers, marketing blends insight, creativity, attention to detail, and strategy to form an integral part of any business. A mix of lecture, case analysis, and hands-on projects, the School of Business marketing specialization provides students the opportunity to utilize their knowledge and skills at the strategic and tactical level, including key components such as product line management, media strategy development, interactive marketing, e-marketing, and more.

Mathematics is the language and enabler of science and technology, providing us with the necessary tools for analyzing economic trends, forecasting weather, doing research in the social sciences and other disciplines, and making informed business decisions.

As a student of mathematics, you will explore the many disciplines of pure and applied mathematics—logic, number theory, calculus, algebra, topology, analysis, modelling, and numeric methods. A degree in mathematics can lead you to many different careers options, including elementary teacher, scientific researcher, civil engineer, statistician, software developer, and economist.
