The Christianity and Culture program has a strong interdisciplinary approach that gives our students a broad understanding of the relationship of Christianity to western culture by educating students in the historic and living traditions of the Christian Church.

Our program prepares students for graduate theological studies and provides a solid foundation for students who desire to enter ministry. Through core biblical studies classes, our students explore the relationship between the historic Christian faith and contemporary values, issues, and institutions. Our students deepen their understanding of the world through electives such as Philosophy, English, or History.

Linguistics is the study of language and how it’s used in society.

Our courses teach you the skills you need to learn and describe languages, even languages that do not have a written alphabet. These skills include the recognition and pronunciation of non-English speech sounds, alphabet formation, description of grammars, and systems of meaning and beliefs. Our courses are based on proven techniques drawn from decades of research in hundreds of languages.

As a student of Linguistics, you will have opportunities in the areas of translation, cross-cultural communication, international development (especially literacy programs), speech-language pathology, and teaching English as a second language.

Music fills our world and we believe that musical and cultural literacy are critical for Christian musicians. Our Music program provides Christ-centred mentorship and exciting peer collaborations, along with abundant opportunities to hone your musical and leadership skills. Mentorship from professors will take your passion for music and help you develop your ability to impact culture as a performer, educator, creator, or scholar.

Our Bachelor Of Arts (Ba) Music Program Offers
Specialization in one of four options:

• Performance - Prepare for a career in the performing arts and/or private music instruction.
• Music Education - Develop your skills to teach in private or public schools.
• General Music - Receive advanced professional training for a variety of musical careers such as conducting, composition, or a range of options within the music industry.
• Worship Arts - Strengthen your skills, develop a firm theological foundation, and be inspired to help create the future of worship music. Internship at a local church is a key component of this program.

As a student in the Geography and Environment Department (GENV), you will examine some of the most significant issues facing our planet and its inhabitants, including climate change, species extinction, habitat fragmentation, urbanization, poverty, and development.

Our GENV programs combine the strengths of a variety of disciplines across two faculties: the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities (FHSS) and the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences (FNAS). These combined strengths provide you with a holistic understanding of issues that cut across a variety of fields, opening up a wide range of employment opportunities.

Our campus’s close proximity to freshwater, mountain, saltwater, and island habitats, as well as urban, rural and agricultural areas means that you will gain a wealth of hands-on experience in environmental stewardship and management and community development practices. Our Geographic Information Systems (GIS) lab and expertise provides up-to-date skills training in GIS.

You will learn from professors with extensive expertise in diverse fields such as ecological restoration, sustainable agriculture, marine biology, landscape ecology, chemical ecology, urban and regional planning, resource management, physical and human geography, and geomatics. Also, the faculty and staff engaged in running the GENV programs provide leadership in the local community and more globally in their scholarship and in more practical ways as they approach the task of serving humanity and creation stewardship.

Corporate Communication Specialization

With a faculty of dedicated and experienced professionals, our Philosophy program aims to challenge and improve your logical and critical-thinking skills.

You will develop the skills to understand and evaluate ideas. Through our philosophy courses, you will refine your perspectives on the importance of ethics, how humans think, and the need to think consistently and clearly. A Philosophy degree prepares you for many career opportunities including law, business, and government.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Acting is designed to train professional actors. Even more than that, theatre training is great training for life. It informs your relationships, makes you an engaging public speaker, teaches teamwork, and invites you to discover yourself and your story.

The MA in Leadership degrees are offered with two foundational curriculum themes – Transformational Servant Leadership and Values-Based Leadership. Our degree program is designed to develop emerging leaders using the Competency Model to become confident and effective servant-leaders for the 21st Century.

Health Care Specialization
As organizations become increasingly resourceful, the need for effective leaders has also intensified. Trinity Western’s MA in Leadership for health equips professionals with the skills to adapt to the health care sector’s growing complexity and changing priorities, by offering a leadership model that emphasizes people and teamwork – a model with proven organizational effectiveness in the Canadian health care sphere.
