The Bachelor of Nursing is offered in a community that is characterized by a mosaic of cultural groups. The curriculum gives students a solid base in theory. Clinical practice allows students to apply their skills and techniques in actual care-giving environments so that our graduates view people in their entirety when providing a service essential to community health and welfare.

The Bachelor of Environmental Design program is a strong multidisciplinary undergraduate degree that provides a solid base of design education for students intending to pursue careers or graduate studies in a wide variety of disciplines, including the Faculty's master's degrees in Architecture, City Planning, Interior Design and Landscape Architecture, and at other institutions globally.

The Bachelor of Environmental Design Degree (BEnvD) is a four-year program consisting of two years of common foundation studies, followed by two years of pre-professional intermediate studies in one of three areas of focus: Architecture, Interior Environments, or Landscape + Urbanism.

Years 1 and 2 of the program provide a solid grounding in the basic knowledge and language shared by all of the environmental design disciplines. Students come to understand the holistic nature of environmental design and, at an early stage, begin to establish a rich and multidisciplinary dialogue with their peers, while discovering strengths and interests relating to a particular design discipline. Years 3 and 4 provide opportunities to be challenged by academic and professional design theories and practices specific to one of three particular disciplines:

• Architecture
• Interior environments
• Landscape + urbanism

The Cooperative Education/Integrated Work Program provides practical experience, assistance in financing your education, and guidance for future career specialization. Semester-long exchange programs and field trips from one day to three weeks in length will expand your perspective and help you see the world in new ways.

Philosophy is the study of reality, knowledge, values, logic and related topics. The existence of free will or God, the nature of science, art, emotions and language, ethical theory, proofs, fallacies, and so on. It is one of the oldest subjects of study in the Western world. Philosophy students are trained to think abstractly and write clearly, and rationally assess ideas in a way that few others can equal.

Anthropology is a biocultural discipline grounded in a comparative and cross-cultural perspective and concerned with diverse aspects of human life. While broadly educated, individual anthropologists generally specialize in particular approaches, collectively contributing to a rich and holistic view of humanity. The University of Manitoba offers undergraduate and graduate training in anthropology’s four sub-disciplines: cultural anthropology, archaeology, physical anthropology, and anthropological linguistics.

The Art History program offers students an opportunity to consider, in a cultural context, both Western and non-Western artistic traditions with an emphasis on the former from the Renaissance to the present. While all courses acknowledge methodological issues, the program also offers courses in art theory and criticism at the second- and third-year levels. Students enrolled in this program broaden their knowledge of art production with studio electives.

In your first year, you will gain knowledge about the development of art worldwide from the prehistoric period to the present, learning about artists, art movements, directions, styles, and social contexts. 

Second year courses offer concentration in specific areas such as the Medieval to Renaissance era, the Renaissance to the Baroque, the Modern to the Contemporary as well as courses that have a single focal area such as Indigenous Art History, Women in Art History, and Art Writing. 

As you progress through your degree, more defined curriculum related to one artistic movement or era will be explored, such as Contemporary Art, Canadian Art History, Bauhaus, Art in New Media, History of Photography, History of Ceramics, Islamic Art, and Curatorial Studies. Special Topics courses address faculty and student interests in current issues and new approaches to the discipline of art history. Seminar courses such as Contemporary Indigenous Art and Manitoba Modernism focus on student-driven discussions.

Physical Geography examines the natural and physical systems of the Earth including the atmosphere, biosphere, cryosphere (ice and snow), hydrosphere (water) and lithosphere (land surface). Physical geographers also look at the connections between these systems, how they change over time, and the implications of these changes. Atmospheric science covers topics such as climate change, storms (including tornadoes), weather systems and other atmospheric phenomena. Biogeography is the study of the biosphere, and examines the geographic nature of plants, animals, and ecosystems. Hydrology is the study of the Earth’s water in its many forms including ice, snow, rivers, lakes, and groundwater. Lastly, geomorphology examines the nature of the Earth’s land surface features such as mountains and river.

English Literature courses cover literature from the medieval period to the present and provide instruction in theoretical approaches and critical methods. The program not only introduces students to an array of literary genres but also develops their creative and interpretive capabilities. The aim is to provide comprehensive historical coverage, to expand students' writing skills, and to promote the kind of analysis and argumentation that enables them to express their ideas clearly and effectively. The program also offers courses in Creative Writing.

The Bachelor of Recreation Management and Community Development combines a strong theoretical framework with practical experiences to help students learn about community development, sport and event management, sustainable tourism and environmental management.

The Diploma in Dental Hygiene is a 3-year program that prepares students to work as dental hygienists in a variety of employment settings. Dental hygiene is a self-regulated health service profession concerned primarily with the prevention of oral disease and the promotion of optimum oral health. As a licensed professional, the dental hygienists' scope of practice is regulated by provincial legislation. The dental hygiene process of care consists of five components: assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate, which guide dental hygiene practice in every setting. Dental hygienists work in private dental offices, community health centres, educational institutions, personal care homes and various other environments.
