Comparative Cultural Studies invites students to pursue the study of cultural expressions as significant ways we make meaning of our world. Through critical comparative analysis of culture with a global perspective, we can begin to understand the relationships between ourselves and others around the world. 

Why Comparative Cultural Studies at UNB?
Comparative Cultural Studies is an interdisciplinary program. This means it draws its subject matter and its approaches from a range of areas: literary studies, languages, cultural studies, media and film studies, art history, music studies, etc. Additionally, its focus is international & comparative. You learn about culture(s) and arts across time and geographic regions, in a wide variety of contexts and representations.

If you’re curious about the social-psychological aspects of recreation, sports, and physical activity, UNB’s Bachelor of Recreation and Sport Studies program is designed for you. This four-year program balances theory and hands-on practice. Hands-on learning

• Practicums: Some students choose to learn directly from a health care worker; others assist with coaching a team, or they volunteer with a community agency.
• Professional Internships: Internships are longer versions of practicums. These are unpaid, four-month, full-time placements with an organization best suited to your career goals. You’ll become part of a professional team, learning and contributing as you go.

Accounting is the language of business. It tells you if you’re winning or losing – exploding or imploding. Accounting is the language you need to succeed.

You’ll acquire this language through UNB’s Accounting programs by learning how to record, interpret, and report economic data. Once you master this language, you’ll have the answer to key questions: Is your company succeeding or failing? Is it using its resources effectively? What changes should be implemented? What does its future look like?

Why Accounting at UNB?
We offer honours in accounting, which includes the courses needed to qualify for the professional level education program, which is required to become a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). We also offer a concentration in accounting.

Hands-on learning:

• Co-operative (Co-op) education program consisting of a minimum of three four-month work terms. Accredited by the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education.

The Law in Society program explores the intimate relationship between law and contemporary societies. The program allows students to study this relationship from an interdisciplinary perspective that may include the philosophic, historic, political, economic and sociological foundations of law. The Law in Society program is a superb preparation for graduate study in the humanities and social sciences, as well as for professional studies including law, public administration, policing, social work, and business.

The interdepartmental and inter-faculty structure of the UNB Law in Society program provides students with unique opportunity to explore a diversity of topics and perspectives in the interfacing of law, policy, justice, and social order from a range of perspectives with the flexibility of tailoring the program towards students’ interests.

In the Chemical Engineering program at UNB, you’ll learn how to transform raw materials into useful products while protecting the environment, managing resources, and meeting strict health and safety standards. You’ll also explore chemical processes that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase safety and security. Examples include the development of more affordable drugs, more efficient fuels, and better pollution controls. In other words, you’ll explore ways to make the world a better place. 

Chemical Engineering is available as a major in the Bachelor of Science in Engineering program. Two option programs within the technical electives stream are available: Energy Conversion Engineering and Biomedical Engineering.

UNB delivers many courses in a variety of ways, including face-to-face, web-based, and teleconference, making it easier for you to find courses at times to fit your schedule. You can begin at the start of any term, go full or part-time, and choose a pace that works for you

Creative writing is available as an option within the English Honours or Majors program. Students in the Creative Writing program must complete the normal English major requirements with courses from relevant creative writing areas.

Bachelor of Arts
The Creative Writing program is available as a major, minor, double major or honours option as part of a Bachelor of Arts degree. Arts is a four-year degree that covers a broad range of subject areas concerned with the study of human beings and the evolution and nature of global societies, ideas, and institutions.

In your first two years of Arts, you will select courses in fields like humanities, languages, social sciences as well as science and business to provide you with a broad foundation for advanced study in your chosen subject area during the final two years.

An English degree helps you develop transferable, functional skills such as writing, critical thinking and communication that employers and most work situations require. Earth Sciences is the natural science that deals with Earth, the interior make-up, and superficial features, its formative and destructive pro­cesses, its age, history and development through time.

Geologists are concerned with a diverse range of issues such as the origin, migration and quality of groundwater, river and coastal erosion, desert-dune migration, the origin and evolution of oceans and continents, of mountain ranges, valleys and canyons. Studies concerning the causes and effects of natural hazards, such as those created by land and rockslides, earthquakes, floods and droughts, and volcanic eruptions all fall within the realm of Geology.

The Faculty of Science is one of the university’s oldest faculties and was established when UNB was founded in 1785. Our faculty has an outstanding reputation, both nationally and internationally, and as a student you will be able to benefit from its stellar accomplishments in research and for its acclaimed graduate and nationally-accredited undergraduate degree programs. Physics is the most fundamental natural science, It examines basic concepts such as energy, force, and spacetime, and all that derives from these, such as mass, charge, matter and its motion. More broadly, it is the general analysis of nature, conducted in order to understand how the world and universe behave.
Physicists want to really understand how the world works, in every detail and at the deepest level. Physicists study questions facing today’s science and technology and are at the forefront of solutions for instrumentation, measurement techniques, and model development in many areas.

Several recent national surveys have indicated that there is a shortage of physicists in almost all parts of Canada. This situation will become even more acute in the next decade, so physicists will continue to find good jobs.
