Gender and Women's Studies gives students an opportunity to explore gender issues in an interdisciplinary context, and it offers a useful complement to other fields. The required courses provide a framework for understanding the gender-based aspects of knowledge, power, and society.

Gender and Women's Studies represents a new approach to knowledge; it examines the gender-based aspects of human experience and women's roles in society. Gender and Women's Studies includes a wide variety of academic disciplines and professions.

Bachelor of Arts
The Gender and Women's Studies program is available as a major, double major or honours option as part of a four-year Bachelor of Arts degree. Courses in the Faculty of Arts cover a broad range of subject areas concerned with the study of human beings and the evolution and nature of global societies, ideas, and institutions. In your first two years of the program, you will select courses in fields like humanities, languages, social sciences as well as science and business to provide you with a broad foundation for advanced study in your chosen subject area during the final two years.

Russian and Eurasian Studies is an interdisciplinary major and minor program administered by a committee drawn from the departments involved in the program. Interested students should first contact the Director who is the representative from the Russian section of the Department of Culture and Language Studies.

• Major in Russian and Eurasian Studies
  • A major in Russian and Eurasian Studies shall consist of a minimum of 30 ch of advanced level courses relating to Russia and the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. To qualify to enter this program, students must first have satisfactorily completed 6 ch in the Russian language at the introductory level (RUSS 1013 and RUSS 1023 ) and 6 ch at the intermediate level (RUSS 2013 and RUSS 2023). The 30 ch for the Major will be selected from the list below and must meet the following requirements:

Earth Sciences is the natural science that deals with Earth, the interior make-up, and superficial features, its formative and destructive pro­cesses, its age, history and development through time.

Geologists are concerned with a diverse range of issues such as the origin, migration and quality of groundwater, river and coastal erosion, desert-dune migration, the origin and evolution of oceans and continents, of mountain ranges, valleys and canyons. Studies concerning the causes and effects of natural hazards, such as those created by land and rockslides, earthquakes, floods and droughts, and volcanic eruptions all fall within the realm of Geology.

The Faculty of Science is one of the university’s oldest faculties and was established when UNB was founded in 1785. Our faculty has an outstanding reputation, both nationally and internationally, and as a student you will be able to benefit from its stellar accomplishments in research and for its acclaimed graduate and nationally-accredited undergraduate degree programs. Comparative Cultural Studies invites students to pursue the study of cultural expressions as significant ways we make meaning of our world. Through critical comparative analysis of culture with a global perspective, we can begin to understand the relationships between ourselves and others around the world.

Comparative Cultural Studies is an interdisciplinary program. This means it draws its subject matter and its approaches from a range of areas: literary studies, languages, cultural studies, media and film studies, art history, music studies, etc. Additionally, its focus is international & comparative.
