Finance is about finding the most effective way to use the money you have, the money you'll make, and the money you'll spend.

UNB’s Finance program will teach you how to plan, manage, and analyze an organization’s financial activities and make important investment decisions that will maximize profits. You’ll learn about key business principles, such as investments, budgets, and mergers and acquisitions, and you’ll explore how individuals and businesses use resources over time.

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology provides a strong foundation in human movement and performance in relation to exercise, sport, work, and wellness. Our program offers a transformative student experience that balances theory with hands-on practice. Kinesiology offers the creative space to explore scientific experiences in our state-of-the-art labs while working alongside leading professors in the field.

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology offers an honours program, directed studies, minor in Ergonomics, and practicums in career-related work situations.

Why Kinesiology at UNB?
UNB’s Faculty of Kinesiology has been a Canadian leader in kinesiology, recreation, sport and wellness since 1957. The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology is an excellent choice for students who are interested in health-related professions, such as: medicine, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic, athletic therapy and massage therapy; or interested in other professions including: ergonomics, fitness, teaching and coaching.

Hands-on learning
Kinesiology provides hands-on learning opportunities inside and outside of the classroom:

• Practical lab experiences begin in the first year of study when students apply the knowledge gained in lectures to real life tests, such as: Biomechanical Motion Analysis, Motor Learning Assessments, Influence of Anxiety on Skill Performance, and VO2 Max testing. Hands-on learning not only occurs in scheduled laboratory courses, it’s also integrated into lecture-based courses through in-class activities and out-of-class assignments.
• Practicums: Some students choose to learn directly from a health care worker; others assist with coaching a team, or they volunteer with a community agency. 

Skills you will acquire:

• An understanding of the scientific links between physical activity and health
• Ability to assess, interpret, and apply interventions to human movement
• Knowledge of the relationship between exercise and aging
• Ability to identify any ethical issues

The mysteries of number theory and the geometry of curved spaces: these are areas with important applications in data security, computer design and cosmology. For ages, through research both pure and applied, mathematicians have made invisible and unsung contributions to advancements in science and technology, and the importance of mathematical training is increasingly recognized by employers and governments around the world.

In numerous rankings of careers, a significant portion of the top careers are math-intensive, and a degree in Mathematics provides excellent training.  For instance, CareerCast annually ranks 200 careers according to environment, income, outlook, and stress, and Mathematician, Actuary, Statistician, Data Scientist, Information Security Analyst, and Computer Systems Analyst regularly rank in the top ten.

Two Options

Mathematics:The mathematics major degree is designed to prepare you with a career in industry, government or education. Mathematics students are urged to obtain some expertise in an area of application such as the physical sciences, computer science, engineering or business.

Statistics: The statistics major degree is designed to prepare you with a career in industry or government as well as to provide a background for graduate study. Statistics students are urged to obtain some expertise in an area of applications such as the physical sciences, forestry, or computer science.

Hands-on learning

• There are summer employment opportunities (e.g. NSERCs Undergraduate Student Research Awards) for upper-year students
• The Faculty of Science has a Co-op degree program

Venture Analyst Leadership Program: If you are completing the Concentration in Venture Commercialization, Scaling and Investment, you can apply to be a Venture Analyst Leader and work with an entrepreneur or investor to launch a start-up venture.

The Department of Culture and Media Studies houses specialists in media studies, literatures, film, music, and languages. This multidisciplinary group is dedicated to fostering broad understandings of culture while also offering opportunities for students to engage critically and creatively with an array of media arts, global cultures and musical traditions.
The language courses are a continuous series and must be taken in the normal sequence. Students with some prior knowledge of Spanish should have this assessed in order to be placed at their proper level. The first two years provide students with a solid working knowledge of Spanish. Students may change streams in consultation with the Department.

The Classical Studies program is designed for students who wish to study the ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome either as a secondary interest (e.g. a double major) or as preparation for entrance into further professional studies (architecture, education, journalism, law, library science, museum studies). 

Classical Studies offers students the option of studying the ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome with only minimal or no language study.  It is a perfect fit for those who wish to develop their interest in and knowledge of Ancient Greece and Rome but who do not wish to continue their study of ancient societies into a career or post-graduate study.

Psychology is the science of human thought, behaviour and emotion. All that we think, feel and do is a possible topic for psychological study. Psychology applies its knowledge to human activity in order to improve lives and alleviate suffering.

At UNB, we offer a broad spectrum of research areas in psychology, including: human sexuality, depression, feminist perspectives, Autism, women’s studies, internet and gambling addictions, gender and laterality, pain assessment and management, infant and adolescent development, cultural psychology, self-concept and identity, bilingualism and cognitive neuroscience.

The study of English is about the appreciation of language at work.  English students explore the impact and possibilities of words as they form into narratives and speak through characters to wider cultural communities at home and across the globe. 

English offers creative inspiration and critical thinking skills while empowering students to become highly literate in a society that values communication.

Why English at UNB?
We will help develop your analytical and communication skills; studying literature will refine your reading, writing, and critical thinking skills, as well as cultivate your love of literature. Through in-class discussions and seminar presentations, you’ll build strategies for public speaking. 

Hands-on learning

• Internship: use your knowledge to shape the community by applying for an unpaid, for-credit internship. You’ll work directly with local organizations and non-profits, including the Charlotte Street Arts Centre and the New Brunswick Film Co-op.
• Enjoy mentorship opportunities with a work-study position in the department, or on campus
• Study English literature abroad through UNB’s Exchange program
• Attend small seminar courses where you can passionately engage with unique and focused topics in literature that excite you

A Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BScF) is about trees, plants, water, and wildlife management – the atmosphere, soils, and landscapes. It’s about people’s beliefs and values. It’s about the economy and about spirit. BScF is about managing all these in sustainable ways. It’s about solving complex problems for the benefit of current and future generations.

Why Forestry at UNB?
The BScF program at UNB is one of the oldest in Canada and has been offered for more than 100 years. We have a deep history in producing graduates who are much sought after in the industry, and many have gone on to become leaders in the field. We are the only English Faculty of Forestry in Atlantic Canada.

Hands-on learning
You will learn outdoors in our university’s forests, including the 1,500-hectare University Forest near the Fredericton campus. You will also collaborate on projects with the scientists and managers at the nearby Atlantic Forestry Research Centre and at the headquarters of the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources.

Skills you will acquire

• Know how the forest should be harvested and replanted in ways that sustain its resources and protect wildlife
