Marketing is about attracting customers. It’s about identifying a unique product, branding it, and then communicating it in a way that makes customers want it.

Through UNB’s Marketing program, you’ll learn how to identify, brand, and communicate products and services to customers. You’ll explore key areas of marketing, such as public relations, advertising, promotions, product development, pricing, and distribution. Marketing courses focus heavily on entrepreneurship and real-world marketing applications so that you’ll gain real-world experience and perspectives. In fact, many of your marketing courses allow you to apply your learning with real businesses and start-ups by planning their marketing activities and social media marketing plans.

For example, you could complete an honours in Marketing and a major in Multimedia Studies from the Bachelor of Arts (BA) program.

Archaeology is the study of human civilizations and societies, primarily through the study of the materials they left behind.

Archaeology at UNB Fredericton is an interdepartmental program provided by the Departments of Anthropology and Classics and Ancient History in the Faculty of Arts. A Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology covers anthropological archaeology (human-focused archaeology) and classical archaeology (investigation of the Ancient Greece and Rome).

The first two years of the program consist of required courses which provide a foundation in the discipline of Archaeology. In the final two years students specialize in the Anthropological or Classical streams, but are required to take some upper-level classes from both streams.

An important part of the program is the archaeological field work requirement. This requirement may also be satisfied by completing a field school program offered through Anthropology or Classics and Ancient History, or through field schools offered by research institutions or universities around the globe.

Opportunities also exist for work placements with government-sponsored or private-sector cultural resource management-based archaeological projects. These also satisfy the requirement for field work and allow students to gain employment experience and earn a wage.

Economics explains almost everything. Food prices. Gas prices. Political decisions. Personal choices. Interest rates. Taxes. All of it can be explained through economics. Through the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program at UNB, you’ll learn the foundations of economics and how it shapes our world. You’ll learn how to explain economic phenomenon, analyze economic impacts, and recommend ways to solve complex economic problems.

The mysteries of number theory and the geometry of curved spaces: these are areas with important applications in data security, computer design and cosmology. For ages, through research both pure and applied, mathematicians have made invisible and unsung contributions to advancements in science and technology, and the importance of mathematical training is increasingly recognized by employers and governments around the world.

In numerous rankings of careers, a significant portion of the top careers are math-intensive, and a degree in Mathematics provides excellent training.  For instance, CareerCast annually ranks 200 careers according to environment, income, outlook, and stress, and Mathematician, Actuary, Statistician, Data Scientist, Information Security Analyst, and Computer Systems Analyst regularly rank in the top ten.

Two Options

Mathematics:The mathematics major degree is designed to prepare you with a career in industry, government or education. Mathematics students are urged to obtain some expertise in an area of application such as the physical sciences, computer science, engineering or business.

Statistics: The statistics major degree is designed to prepare you with a career in industry or government as well as to provide a background for graduate study. Statistics students are urged to obtain some expertise in an area of applications such as the physical sciences, forestry, or computer science.

Hands-on learning

• There are summer employment opportunities (e.g. NSERCs Undergraduate Student Research Awards) for upper-year students
• The Faculty of Science has a Co-op degree program

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology provides a strong foundation in human movement and performance in relation to exercise, sport, work, and wellness. Our program offers a transformative student experience that balances theory with hands-on practice. Kinesiology offers the creative space to explore scientific experiences in our state-of-the-art labs while working alongside leading professors in the field.

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology offers an honours program, directed studies, minor in Ergonomics, and practicums in career-related work situations.

Why Kinesiology at UNB?
UNB’s Faculty of Kinesiology has been a Canadian leader in kinesiology, recreation, sport and wellness since 1957. The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology is an excellent choice for students who are interested in health-related professions, such as: medicine, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic, athletic therapy and massage therapy; or interested in other professions including: ergonomics, fitness, teaching and coaching.

Hands-on learning
Kinesiology provides hands-on learning opportunities inside and outside of the classroom:

• Practical lab experiences begin in the first year of study when students apply the knowledge gained in lectures to real life tests, such as: Biomechanical Motion Analysis, Motor Learning Assessments, Influence of Anxiety on Skill Performance, and VO2 Max testing. Hands-on learning not only occurs in scheduled laboratory courses, it’s also integrated into lecture-based courses through in-class activities and out-of-class assignments.
• Practicums: Some students choose to learn directly from a health care worker; others assist with coaching a team, or they volunteer with a community agency.

Mechanical engineers solve problems. They focus on making the world a better place by creating efficient, safe, and environmentally sound components and systems.

In UNB’s Mechanical Engineering program, you’ll learn to analyze, design, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems. You’ll gain the skills you need to create and build mechanical devices such as spacecraft and artificial limbs, to design automation, medical tools, robotics, and ventilation systems, and to redesign existing mechanical systems and components to be more affordable and environmentally sound. 

Mechanical Engineering is available as a major in the Bachelor of Science in Engineering program.

In the Chemical Engineering program at UNB, you’ll learn how to transform raw materials into useful products while protecting the environment, managing resources, and meeting strict health and safety standards. You’ll also explore chemical processes that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase safety and security. Examples include the development of more affordable drugs, more efficient fuels, and better pollution controls. In other words, you’ll explore ways to make the world a better place. 

Chemical Engineering is available as a major in the Bachelor of Science in Engineering program. Two option programs within the technical electives stream are available: Energy Conversion Engineering and Biomedical Engineering.

The Bachelor of Science in Environment and Natural Resources inspires students to solve natural and environmental problems from a holistic, systems perspective. By studying the land, water, air, plants, and people, you’ll learn how to predict and interpret climate change and build a solutions-based career that protects and bolsters natural resources.
