UNB’s Finance program will teach you how to plan, manage, and analyze an organization’s financial activities and make important investment decisions that will maximize profits. The Faculty of Engineering offers a program leading to a Diploma in Technology Management and Entrepreneurship, administered by the Dr. J. Herbert Smith/ACOA Chair. The mission of the program is to provide undergraduate and continuing education students opportunities to experience the realities of entrepreneurship and management in technology-based businesses and to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in business. The Diploma program consists of three core courses and two electives, totalling 15 credit hours. In selecting courses, students will be advised to develop a curriculum that builds skills in three key areas: business management, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.

Up to twelve credit hours of required courses for the TME diploma can be shared as credit towards a degree. Each department shall determine its own maximum allowable concurrent credit hours, which may be less than, but no greater than twelve credit hours. Students who intend to complete the diploma must obtain both department and TME program approval of the courses which will be applied towards the degree and the diploma.

Applicants are encouraged to apply to the program as early as their first year of study and begin by taking elective courses. A minimum of 80 credit hours completed, or permission of the TME program Chair, is required to enroll in TME core courses.  Applicants who are not full-time students may still apply for the TME Diploma (or enroll in one or more TME courses). These applicants may be requested to submit the following documents along with their TME Diploma Application:

Through the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program at UNB, you’ll learn the foundations of economics and how it shapes our world. You’ll learn how to explain economic phenomenon, analyze economic impacts, and recommend ways to solve complex economic problems.

Archaeology is the study of human civilizations and societies, primarily through the study of the materials they left behind.

Archaeology at UNB Fredericton is an interdepartmental program provided by the Departments of Anthropology and Classics and Ancient History in the Faculty of Arts. A Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology covers anthropological archaeology (human-focused archaeology) and classical archaeology (investigation of the Ancient Greece and Rome).

The first two years of the program consist of required courses which provide a foundation in the discipline of Archaeology. In the final two years students specialize in the Anthropological or Classical streams, but are required to take some upper-level classes from both streams.

An important part of the program is the archaeological field work requirement. This requirement may also be satisfied by completing a field school program offered through Anthropology or Classics and Ancient History, or through field schools offered by research institutions or universities around the globe.

Opportunities also exist for work placements with government-sponsored or private-sector cultural resource management-based archaeological projects. These also satisfy the requirement for field work and allow students to gain employment experience and earn a wage.

Drama is available as a concentration within the English major. The requirements for this program are that a student complete the normal English Major requirements in terms of both historical coverage and course restrictions as explained under Major in English, along with courses from relevant drama areas. Drama is also available as a minor within the Bachelor of Arts degree.

Bachelor of Arts
Arts is a four year degree that covers a broad range of subject areas concerned with the study of human beings and the evolution and nature of global societies, ideas, and institutions.

In your first two years of Arts, you will select courses in fields like humanities, languages, social sciences as well as science and business to provide you with a broad foundation for advanced study in your chosen subject area during the final two years.

Economists are excited by changing environments and unique challenges. When you study economics, you’re examining decision-making processes at the personal and political level and contributing to a way of thinking that will influence countless social issues, including: poverty, climate change, health care, international development, globalization, immigration, financial institutions, and government regulations.

Economics will prepare you for a career of investigating and analyzing economic events, forecasting trends, and creating efficient policies while innovating current systems.

Travel back in time to ancient Greece and Rome by studying how art, architecture, mythology, history, science, philosophy, and the language of the time have shaped what we now understand as our modern Western world. Using literature and archeology as your guides, you’ll learn about ancient civilizations in a fresh and compelling way.

Why Classics at UNB?
At UNB, we offer two approaches to the study of classical antiquity. For students intending to pursue the study of ancient Greece and Rome at a graduate level, we offer a program focusing on ancient Greek and Latin languages, and a critical knowledge of the works of ancient authors in their original languages.

For students planning to enter professional roles after the BA, we offer a program of humanities courses, which includes: history, mythology, philosophy, and art history. In either stream, students are invited to enroll in courses in archaeology.

Biology is the science of life, and as a department we want to foster a fascination with the biological sciences, develop scientific literacy, and build a solid foundation for careers in biology and related professions. 

Contemporary biology asks many questions due to the vast scope of disciplines related to biological sciences, ranging from the smallest molecules and cellular components, to individual organisms such as microbes, plants and animals, to the larger environment, ecosystems and the biosphere. 

The Biology program is available as a four-year Bachelor of Science degree with majors and honours programs, or as a minor within range of interdepartmental programs.

Learning the French language provides a wealth of opportunities for your future career and ignites a passion for culture, creativity, and expression. The Department of French welcomes students who wish to learn and perfect the language as well as pursue their studies in literature and linguistics.

We offer a range of courses in French Canadian literature, cinema, and culture, with an emphasis on Acadian and Québécois writers, as well as other Francophone literatures (i.e. France, Belgium, etc.).

Our linguistics courses explore the various expressions across French Canada. We also emphasize the phenomenon of human communication and how language shapes experience.
