Physics provides an opportunity for us to set aside our emotions, our beliefs, our preconceived notions, and our prejudices. In return, we can find answers to our questions and learn something meaningful about how things work in the universe.

We need this organized approach because humans are easily fooled. We would like to think that that is not true, but it is. Arriving at a conclusion, however, is not at all a strictly ridged mechanical process. A great amount of careful thought, inspiration, and leaps of intuition are needed.

At the University of New Brunswick in Saint John, we offer first-year courses on the theoretical foundation of physics as well as the experimental proof of critical parts. Non-science majors can choose courses in astronomy or space studies, where you'll learn how the human species explores and exploits the cosmos.

The Faculty of Science, Applied Science and Engineering is the home of the Chemistry department in Saint John and is located on the top floor of William F. Ganong Hall.

Chemistry is the study of atoms, molecules and their interactions. It is often described as the central science because studies in biology, geology and physics examine the gross behaviour of materials which is a reflection of what is occurring at the molecular level.

Environmental biology is an interdisciplinary science because the solutions to environmental problems lie at the intersection of human behaviour, technology and the biology of living organisms.

Software engineers fuse the creativity of software design with the discipline of engineering principles.

A relatively new field, software engineers perform a number of tasks including design, development (or construction), testing, maintenance, systems management and the adaptation of software to address regional and language differences, also known as software localization.

The Engineering programs are based on Department course credit requirements established by the Faculty of Engineering as detailed in Section G of this Calendar. The courses available will satisfy up to one-half of the total course requirements for Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Engineering. Geological, Forest and Geomatics Engineering students may obtain approximately one-quarter of their total course requirements.

At the heart of the Politics program at UNB’s Saint John campus is the discussion of political power, institutions, and practice. You’ll be examining how and why the government makes its decisions and how those decisions affect our social, cultural, legal, and economic landscape.

Four major fields of study include Canadian Politics, Comparative Politics, International Relations, and Political Theory.

The Pre-MBA Program is full-time, intensive, non-credit program offered by Saint John College and UNB Saint John's Master of Business Administration program. It is designed to help international students bridge the gap between their undergraduate education, work experience and the entry requirements of UNB Saint John's MBA program.

The Pre-MBA program is designed for international students who have been conditionally accepted to the UNB Saint John MBA Program but who need to increase their level of English language ability and/or gain work experience.

Cognitive neuroscience is a multi-disciplinary study of the neurological underpinnings of cognitive activity. Cognitive Neuroscience brings in perspectives from Psychology, Linguistics, Philosophy, Mathematics, and Computer Science to tackle the complex area of the neurological basis of cognition.

Mathematics puts our world in order. Arts students may major or minor in Mathematics, studying calculus, geometry, algebra, statistics and mathematical theory. Mathematics provides the framework for scientific theory in applied, natural and social sciences and the principles underlying economics and business studies.
