General Information:-

The Certificate in General Studies is open to all interested individuals, but it is intended for student attending university for the first time. It is anticipated that Certificate students may proceed on to a degree program, transferring all appropriate Certificate credit(s).

The Pre-MBA Program is full-time, intensive, non-credit program offered by Saint John College and UNB Saint John's Master of Business Administration program. It is designed to help international students bridge the gap between their undergraduate education, work experience and the entry requirements of UNB Saint John's MBA program.

The Pre-MBA program is designed for international students who have been conditionally accepted to the UNB Saint John MBA Program but who need to increase their level of English language ability and/or gain work experience.

Civil engineers design, construct and maintain all types of buildings and transportation systems.

That’s an extensive list that includes office towers, highways, airports, canals, bridges, industrial plants, water and sewage treatment systems, hydroelectric developments and irrigation systems.

Linguistics courses offer insights into the relationship between the brain, mind and language. By studying linguistics, you’ll gain the skills and knowledge to understand foreign languages and the difficulties foreign students encounter in English and French. 

Linguistic courses complement programs in Education, English, Languages, Psychology, Philosophy, Social Science, and Computer Science. Linguistics is a requirement for Speech Therapy, TESL, and other programs related to language processing and language engineering.

What you'll learn
This program provides students with a solid knowledge of basic concepts that form the foundation of linguistic theories including:

• The modules of grammar (phonology, syntax, semantics).
• The relationship between cognition and language (psycholinguistics).

Our campus is adjacent to New Brunswick’s largest health care facility, the Saint John Regional Hospital - the province's main trauma and heart care centre and medical teaching facility. We are also co-located with Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick, and NBCC (New Brunswick Community College) Allied Health - giving us unique opportunities for interdisciplinary research and education that will enhance your studies.

You will begin with introductory classes in the physical and social sciences along with courses geared toward career development. In your second year you will focus on health specialties such as mental health, young families and the relationship between bodies and disease. Third and fourth year courses will concentrate on acute care and community nursing.

Our students receive valuable real-world experience during clinical care practicums at both the hospital and through local community, industry and public health programs and agencies.

The Faculty of Science, Applied Science and Engineering is the home of the Chemistry department in Saint John and is located on the top floor of William F. Ganong Hall.

Chemistry is the study of atoms, molecules and their interactions. It is often described as the central science because studies in biology, geology and physics examine the gross behaviour of materials which is a reflection of what is occurring at the molecular level. 

Our principle teaching strategy is to work with small groups of students to maximize the personal experience and optimize skills development.

The Faculty of Engineering offers a program leading to a Diploma in Technology Management and Entrepreneurship, administered by the Dr. J. Herbert Smith/ACOA Chair. The mission of the program is to provide undergraduate and continuing education students opportunities to experience the realities of entrepreneurship and management in technology-based businesses and to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in business. The Diploma program consists of three core courses and two electives, totalling 15 credit hours. In selecting courses, students will be advised to develop a curriculum that builds skills in three key areas: business management, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.

Up to twelve credit hours of required courses for the TME diploma can be shared as credit towards a degree. Each department shall determine its own maximum allowable concurrent credit hours, which may be less than, but no greater than twelve credit hours. Students who intend to complete the diploma must obtain both department and TME program approval of the courses which will be applied towards the degree and the diploma.

Applicants are encouraged to apply to the program as early as their first year of study and begin by taking elective courses. A minimum of 80 credit hours completed, or permission of the TME program Chair, is required to enroll in TME core courses.  Applicants who are not full-time students may still apply for the TME Diploma (or enroll in one or more TME courses). What is gender and how has its definition changed over time and place? How has gender been represented through literature and other media? And how exactly do we bring about change in gender relations in the world?

These are a few questions the Gender Studies program on UNB’s Saint John campus will address, by focusing heavily on concepts such as feminism, masculinity, queer studies, and transgender studies.

Mathematics puts our world in order. Arts students may major or minor in Mathematics, studying calculus, geometry, algebra, statistics and mathematical theory. Mathematics provides the framework for scientific theory in applied, natural and social sciences and the principles underlying economics and business studies.
