General Information:-

The Certificate in General Studies is open to all interested individuals, but it is intended for student attending university for the first time. It is anticipated that Certificate students may proceed on to a degree program, transferring all appropriate Certificate credit(s).

Our BScEC program will introduce you to the function and roles of Canadian and global economies, and the tools economists use to analyze the decisions made by individuals and businesses. Our BScEC graduates are well-qualified for jobs in economics or finance, or the pursuit of graduate studies in either field.

At UNB Saint John you’ll explore how the world works with Bachelor of Science programs that delve deep into the principles that support our universe, from the diverse ecosystems in our rivers and oceans to the pure mathematical theories that explain time and space.

Philosophy helps students explore a wide range of questions from a variety of different positions. Ask the big questions, and accept there are no easy answers. Philosophy ponders questions about meaning, truth, ethics, art, citizenship, and freedom that define who we are as individuals and leads us to a clearer sense of our role in society. 

Philosophy is available as a major, double major, or minor within the Bachelor of Arts. Students can explore the major philosophies of the past and engage with the issues and major questions of today.

UNB’s Concurrent Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education (BA/BEd) program is for people who love to learn and facilitate learning. And it’s for people who want to learn from the best.

The BA/BEd at UNB Saint John attracts students who want to accomplish two goals: receive the training and skills required to become an elementary school teacher (Kindergarten to grade 5) and acquire a Bachelor of Arts (BA), all at the same time.

Why take the BA/BEd program at UNB?

The BA/BEd program will qualify you for a certificate Level 5 teaching license in New Brunswick, which is recognized by other Canadian provinces and most U.S. states. In addition, our small class sizes mean greater interaction and collaboration between you, your instructors, and your colleagues.

The beauty of statistics is that it can be combined with virtually any other discipline, whether its science, medicine, computer science, sports, finance or engineering. As the awareness of the importance of statistics continues to grow, so does the demand for statisticians and statistical expertise.

At UNB Saint John we offer general introductory statistics courses covering the core elements of statistics, specialized introductory statistics courses as well as third and fourth year courses designed to fit the needs of students working on major projects, heading to graduate school or looking for employment in the industry.

In UNB’s Bachelor of Applied Management in Hospitality and Tourism (BAMHT) program, you’ll combine practical experience in a community college setting with theoretical studies in UNB classrooms. You’ll study in Canada’s oldest incorporated city and gain valuable hands-on training and experience.

The BAMHT is available as a certificate and a degree, if entering from high school, or as a diploma and a degree, if entering from college. For the co-op mode, work terms follow Years Two and Three for high school-entry students while a work term follows Year Three (i.e. first year at UNBSJ) for college-entry students. These work terms provide hands-on, multi-level practical experiences.

Statistics is the collection and interpretation of data. At the University of New Brunswick Saint John, you will learn to develop tools to predict behaviour and actions across a variety of sectors including government, business, science and academia.

In your first year you will be required to take introductory mathematics courses in calculus as well as two introductory courses in probability and statistics. In your upper years you will build upon this foundation with courses in probability analysis, design and sample surveying. You may declare your major or minor in statistics at the end of your second year.

A degree in statistics prepares you for a career in analyzing a variety of factors for many types of employers including government, business, education and academia.

Our graduates go on to become actuaries, forensic auditors, insurance underwriters, market research analysts, medical researchers, public opinion researchers, statisticians and systems operation analysts.

Physics is a disciplined way to reach objective conclusions about how nature works. It is about finding out what is real. And then, armed with this new knowledge, predicting the future. Physics provides an opportunity for us to set aside our emotions, our beliefs, our preconceived notions, and our prejudices. In return, we can find answers to our questions and learn something meaningful about how things work in the universe.

We need this organized approach because humans are easily fooled. We would like to think that that is not true, but it is. Arriving at a conclusion, however, is not at all a strictly ridged mechanical process. A great amount of careful thought, inspiration, and leaps of intuition are needed.
