UNB Saint John's undergraduate program in chemical engineering provides a broad background in chemistry, physics, and mathematics and detailed knowledge of chemical engineering principles.

Civil engineers design, construct and maintain all types of buildings and transportation systems.

That’s an extensive list that includes office towers, highways, airports, canals, bridges, industrial plants, water and sewage treatment systems, hydroelectric developments and irrigation systems.

Learning the French language provides a wealth of opportunities for your future career and ignites a passion for culture, creativity, and expression. The Department of French welcomes students who wish to learn and perfect the language as well as pursue their studies in literature and linguistics.

We offer a range of courses in French Canadian literature, cinema, and culture, with an emphasis on Acadian and Québécois writers, as well as other Francophone literatures (i.e. France, Belgium, etc.).

Our linguistics courses explore the various expressions across French Canada. We also emphasize the phenomenon of human communication and how language shapes experience.

The multidisciplinary International Studies program at UNB’s Saint John campus is about exploring the diversity, complexity, and interdependence that make up our modern world. Electrical engineers oversee the production, transmission and use of electricity.

That includes everything from managing large power grids that deliver electricity to designing microprocessors for computers and other electric devices.

With the many applications of electricity, the areas of specialization are wide-ranging:

Environmental biology is an interdisciplinary science because the solutions to environmental problems lie at the intersection of human behaviour, technology and the biology of living organisms.

Environmental biology students at UNB Saint John will take courses in:

• Ecotoxicology

Biology is the study of life. At UNB Saint John, Arts students can major in Biology, studying botany, ecology, zoology, organic chemistry and microbiology. You will be able to explore the world of environmental science, sustainable development and public policies towards land and water use.

In your first year you will take introductory studies in organic chemistry, ecology cells and organisms and biology lab work. In second year you will add botany, microbiology, zoology and statistics to your course work and at the end of the year you may apply to major in Biology. Upper-level studies in Biology may include conservation biology, environmental law and animal behaviour.

Your biology degree will teach you to analyze how living things work and interact with other organisms. You will learn to think critically and solve problems through observation and evaluation.

 UNB Saint John's Bachelor of Applied Management in Accounting (BAMAC) program complements the practical and technical accounting experience gained through a college education with university-level studies in accounting.

The BAMAC will qualify students for greater career opportunities or to pursue a professional accounting designation, such as the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). As an added bonus, many of the courses required in the BAMAC are the same as the required courses for the CPA professional program.

Our campus is adjacent to New Brunswick’s largest health care facility, the Saint John Regional Hospital - the province's main trauma and heart care centre and medical teaching facility. We are also co-located with Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick, and NBCC (New Brunswick Community College) Allied Health - giving us unique opportunities for interdisciplinary research and education that will enhance your studies.

You will begin with introductory classes in the physical and social sciences along with courses geared toward career development. In your second year you will focus on health specialties such as mental health, young families and the relationship between bodies and disease. Third and fourth year courses will concentrate on acute care and community nursing.

Our students receive valuable real-world experience during clinical care practicums at both the hospital and through local community, industry and public health programs and agencies.

The Engineering programs are based on Department course credit requirements established by the Faculty of Engineering as detailed in Section G of this Calendar. The courses available will satisfy up to one-half of the total course requirements for Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Engineering. Geological, Forest and Geomatics Engineering students may obtain approximately one-quarter of their total course requirements.
