The History program at UNB is about both the past and the present. It’s about understanding how the past has shaped the world as we know it now. The program explores the interconnections between economics, nationalism, science, religion, politics, and popular culture, and how each has influenced local, regional, and world events.

Mathematics puts our world in order. Arts students may major or minor in Mathematics, studying calculus, geometry, algebra, statistics and mathematical theory. Mathematics provides the framework for scientific theory in applied, natural and social sciences and the principles underlying economics and business studies.

The multidisciplinary International Studies program at UNB’s Saint John campus is about exploring the diversity, complexity, and interdependence that make up our modern world. It’s about placing our society, politics, history, culture, and economics under a microscope in an attempt to understand contemporary global issues, such as food distribution, gender roles, and disease control.

The BA/BEd at UNB Saint John attracts students who want to accomplish two goals: receive the training and skills required to become an elementary school teacher (Kindergarten to grade 5) and acquire a Bachelor of Arts (BA), all at the same time.

Mechanical engineers work with systems that transform energy and material to useful ends.

Combining the principles of physics with engineering, mechanical engineers design, develop and analyze machines, including:

The majority of mechanical engineers work in manufacturing and industrial plants, improving system performance, including increased emission and other environmental controls.

Our campus is adjacent to New Brunswick’s largest health care facility, the Saint John Regional Hospital - the province's main trauma and heart care centre and medical teaching facility. We are also co-located with Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick, and NBCC (New Brunswick Community College) Allied Health - giving us unique opportunities for interdisciplinary research and education that will enhance your studies.

You will begin with introductory classes in the physical and social sciences along with courses geared toward career development. In your second year you will focus on health specialties such as mental health, young families and the relationship between bodies and disease. Third and fourth year courses will concentrate on acute care and community nursing.

Our students receive valuable real-world experience during clinical care practicums at both the hospital and through local community, industry and public health programs and agencies.

Physics is a disciplined way to reach objective conclusions about how nature works. It is about finding out what is real. And then, armed with this new knowledge, predicting the future. Physics provides an opportunity for us to set aside our emotions, our beliefs, our preconceived notions, and our prejudices. We need this organized approach because humans are easily fooled. We would like to think that that is not true, but it is. Arriving at a conclusion, however, is not at all a strictly ridged mechanical process. A great amount of careful thought, inspiration, and leaps of intuition are needed.

Information and Communication Studies (ICS) is online, interactive, and connected. Society is in the midst of a fundamental shift in how we communicate with each other, access information, and view popular culture.

As an ICS student on our Saint John campus, you will cast a critical eye on the impact of new technologies and processes on our social, political, economic, and cultural landscapes.

Topics include the decline of newspapers, radio, and television; the rise of Twitter, Facebook, and other social media; the impact of mobile computing; and the eternal question of ‘do we control our devices or do our devices determine who we are?’

Unlike many similar programs, which focus on one discipline’s perspective, our program is multidisciplinary. This means you’ll learn about complex topics from multiple fields of study and perspectives, including Sociology, Psychology, and History.
