UNB’s Concurrent Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education (BA/BEd) program is for people who love to learn and facilitate learning. And it’s for people who want to learn from the best.

The BA/BEd at UNB Saint John attracts students who want to accomplish two goals: receive the training and skills required to become an elementary school teacher (Kindergarten to grade 5) and acquire a Bachelor of Arts (BA), all at the same time.

Why take the BA/BEd program at UNB?

The BA/BEd program will qualify you for a certificate Level 5 teaching license in New Brunswick, which is recognized by other Canadian provinces and most U.S. states. In addition, our small class sizes mean greater interaction and collaboration between you, your instructors, and your colleagues.

From emergency care for premature babies with immature lungs, to ongoing treatment for people with chronic diseases such as cystic fibrosis, asthma and emphysema, respiratory therapists play an important role in lifelong health.

Respiratory therapists can be found throughout the health care system, such as:

• Private sector corporations
• Equipment and pharmaceutical sales
• Air quality testing facilities

Open doors

• A respiratory therapy degree can also open doors around the world. Health care providers in developing countries actively recruit Canadian graduates to help develop health care facilities and programs abroad.
• Following completion of the BHS (Respiratory Therapy) students may pursue further training in the specialized treatment areas of perfusion technology, sleep medicine, neonatal or pediatric care and anaesthesia assistant.

Mathematics puts our world in order. Arts students may major or minor in Mathematics, studying calculus, geometry, algebra, statistics and mathematical theory. Mathematics provides the framework for scientific theory in applied, natural and social sciences and the principles underlying economics and business studies.

The Engineering programs are based on Department course credit requirements established by the Faculty of Engineering as detailed in Section G of this Calendar. The courses available will satisfy up to one-half of the total course requirements for Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Engineering. Geological, Forest and Geomatics Engineering students may obtain approximately one-quarter of their total course requirements.

Criminal Justice Studies at UNB is about crime, criminal behaviour, and the criminal justice system. It’s about social control, crime prevention, victimization, and criminal sanctions. And it’s about examining all of these things from multiple perspectives – psychological, sociological, historical, philosophical, and business.

Why Criminal Justice Studies at UNB?

Geology is the study of the Earth, its origin, structure and composition. Rocks are a key component of our landscape. They give us clues as to how and when it formed, and the materials it contains.

Their structures help unravel the secrets of what the Earth was like in the past. To a geologist, our modern-day landscape speaks volumes.

The goal of geology as a science is to better understand the processes that acted upon the Earth’s system in the past to help us foresee how geologic events and processes will affect us in the future.

Many of us don’t take the time and stop to think about just how much geology affects our surroundings. Geology encompasses many parts of the Earth's system. In studying about the Earth’s origins and evolution, you will learn about the formation of the planet, how the continents and oceans are formed and how they grow or are destroyed, and how all this was discovered. By studying fossils, you'll learn how our climate has changed over time and what that means for our environment.

You will learn about minerals, how they form and grow, and under what conditions this happens. We explore how minerals come together and form rocks, and examine how looking at a rock tells you something about the environment in which it formed. We will talk about volcanoes, landslides, earthquakes, glaciers, deserts and rivers - all of which shape the surface of the planet.

At the University of New Brunswick Saint John, we teach first-year courses in the geology and geo-engineering programs. Some second year courses are also available with an emphasis on paleontology and the environment, of particular interest to biology students.

The University of New Brunswick is introducing a new two-year diploma in engineering foundations program, offered on its Saint John campus. Starting in September 2021, the diploma in engineering foundations will provide graduates with formal recognition upon completion of the two foundational years in engineering.

At UNB Saint John, you will get off to a great start while enjoying the benefits of our small campus and class sizes. Our diploma in engineering foundations gives you a strong base before transferring to our Fredericton campus or another university to complete your four-year degree program.

The two-year diploma program provides you with a basic understanding of scientific principles and a foundation in engineering, mathematics, design and technical communication. After a general program of study in your first year, you will focus on one of five engineering disciplines (Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Software) in your second year.

Our BScEC program will introduce you to the function and roles of Canadian and global economies, and the tools economists use to analyze the decisions made by individuals and businesses. Our BScEC graduates are well-qualified for jobs in economics or finance, or the pursuit of graduate studies in either field.

Bachelor of Science at UNB Saint John:-

At UNB Saint John you’ll explore how the world works with Bachelor of Science programs that delve deep into the principles that support our universe, from the diverse ecosystems in our rivers and oceans to the pure mathematical theories that explain time and space.

Scientific research has made great advances in the past 20 years and at UNB Saint John you’ll have the opportunity to learn and experiment in small classes led by instructors passionate about science and the theoretical and practical knowledge it imparts.

Anthropologists study humans: who we are, what we do, what we say, what we look like, and what we believe in.

At UNB, Anthropology is a holistic discipline, meaning you’ll examine humans, both past and present, as biological, cultural, and social beings. You’ll explore three central subfields – sociocultural anthropology, archeology, and biological anthropology – and you’ll have access to our expanded lab facility that includes a vast collection of human, hominid, and primate teaching specimens.

We use a range of learning styles and innovative teaching methods, and we incorporate findings from our research. Our small class sizes mean greater interaction between you, your instructors, and your peers.
