The professional Master's option in Journalism is a 30 credit program to be completed over three semesters. It is not an academic track degree; rather it is designed to develop students' capacity for advanced journalistic investigation. Candidates will take a suite of core courses in the theory, history and methods of journalism as well as two advanced specialization options (in print, magazine, broadcast, documentary, international media, alternative media or photojournalism). An outside elective will draw on the resources of other departments and programs and will be related to students' professional capstone projects. In lieu of a thesis, their professional Master’s project will be completed under the supervision of an assigned faculty member. Long-form journalism proposals may include a film or radio documentary; a creative non-fiction or investigative series for magazine, newspaper or online publication; a publisher-ready book proposal and first chapter; a photo-journalism exhibit; or a community-based media project. Students will follow a rigorous and methodical process of research planning and investigation to produce journalism of publication / broadcast quality. Proposals must meaningfully advance the public interest.  Students will also participate in a Master's workshop, as they move from the conceptualization and investigation phases to the project production phase. Students can complete the qualifying university requirements for the Chiropractic program at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC). Students are required to complete a minimum of three years (90 credit hours) of undergraduate university study in any discipline prior to admission to the Chiropractic program. Although there are no specific required courses, CMCC does recommend courses in specific subject areas. The Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) at the CMCC is a four year program following admission. The CMCC welcomes applications from Canadian and international students. The courses completed at the University of Regina as part of this program can be used toward variety of degree programs at the University of Regina.

Geography and environmental studies differ from other subjects due to their emphasis on space, place, and how humans connect and interact with their environment. Major global challenges of our time, such as climate change, depletion of natural resources, water availability, migration, war and conflict are better understood and addressed by those who have an in-depth knowledge of geography and environmental studies. The subject is diverse and is based on both natural science and social studies.

What is Geography and Environmental Studies?
Geography and Environmental Studies encompasses three areas:

• Human geography
• Physical geography
• Environmental studies

Human geography analyses the way humans use and understand the world and addresses the spatial differentiation and organization of human activity and its interrelationships with the physical environment.

Physical geography—a component of Earth sciences—is the study of the natural processes that occur at and above the surface of the Earth.

Geography is one of mankind’s earliest scientific disciplines and studies the environment – everything that surrounds us, including human beings.

Environmental Studies encompasses the study of the planet and its intricate variety of living and non-living elements and processes, how human beings connect with the physical structures, institutions and economies we build, and the politics, language and culture by which we communicate.

The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program focuses on studio art practice/production and its contextualization within contemporary practice and critical discourse. Students meet with studio faculty on an individual basis. Weekly seminars focus on art theory and criticism, professional issues and the development of individual research projects.

MFA students in Visual Arts are provided with well equipped studio spaces for six consecutive semesters and access to all department equipment and facilities including: the Fifth Parallel Student Gallery, the Dr. John Archer Library, the woodshop, graduate computer lab and the Visual Resource Centre.

The program is intentionally small (maximum of five students are accepted each year) in order to allow for intensive interaction between students and faculty. The department is comprised of eight studio professors and four art historians, all  of whom are active, practicing professionals. The department is also complemented by faculty from the First Nations University of Canada, Luther College and by other members of the Fine Arts Faculty.

The MFA program culminates with a solo exhibition at the MacKenzie Art Gallery - or another approved space approved by the supervisor and the Visual Arts graduate committee and is - supported by a comprehensive support paper. An oral defense conducted by an external examiner, a committee of Visual Arts faculty and the Dean of FGSR or designate completes the degree requirements.

In the human kinetics program, you will focus on both individual and community-based programming, while combining a strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, nutrition, biomechanics, movement behaviour, and exercise psychology. Sometimes called exercise science, the human kinetics bachelor’s program at the U of R will prepare you for a unique health career. Get career-ready with a 15-week, full-time field work experience, applying what you learned from studying your major. This level of experience prior to degree completion is not common in other undergraduate kinesiology programs.

The University of Regina Department of English is a medium-sized department offering courses and research opportunities in most areas of English, American, and Canadian literatures. The size of its student body ensures that students have ample opportunity for intellectual discussion with their peers, but also the close contact with faculty members that larger institutions are unable to provide. The Department currently offers three routes for the MA in English: course-based, Creative Writing, and thesis-based. The course MA (ten courses) provides an opportunity to achieve a breadth of knowledge in many areas of English literature. The thesis MA (five courses plus thesis) provides an opportunity to do in-depth research, and an extended piece of writing, on one area of English literature. The Master's degree is normally the highest offered in the Department of English at the University of Regina, and affords the Department the opportunity for close support of Master’s students and high-priority supervision of Master's theses Both the thesis and course MA offer students excellent preparation for graduate studies at the doctoral level, or for jobs and careers in English. The Department of English is offering an MA in Creative Writing: this degree consists of five courses (in Creative Writing and English Literature/Theory), and a creative thesis with a critical/theoretical introduction.

The four-year studio art program encourages individual artistic development by concentrating on studio practice. After a year and a half of work in a variety of studio areas, students will choose a concentration in: ceramics, drawing, intermedia, painting, printmaking, sculpture, or open studio which combines more than one of the areas. Art history courses, which place the studio practice in a historical and critical context, are combined with fine arts and liberal arts requirements, providing the necessary skills for graduates to pursue careers as artists, craftspeople, art dealers, gallery manager, museum/gallery educators, or technicians.

Occupational therapy (OT) is the use of assessment and intervention to develop, recover, or maintain the meaningful activities, or occupations, of individuals, groups, or communities. It is an allied health profession performed by occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants (OTA). OTs often work with people with mental health problems, disabilities, injuries, or impairments.

Typically, occupational therapists are university-educated professionals and must pass a licensing exam to practice.Occupational therapists often work closely with professionals in physical therapy, speech therapy, audiology, nursing, social work, clinical psychology, medicine, and assistive technology.

Electronic Systems Engineering conducts research and offers graduate courses in selected areas of microelectronics, signal processing, instrumentation, and communications.

In the international studies degree program, you can choose from two concentrations.

• International Affairs - Focus on courses like contemporary and advanced issues in international affairs to develop an understanding of how the political, economic, social and cultural aspects of international issues are related.
• International Development - Take courses such as international development and poverty, and advanced topics, covering strategies to alleviate poverty, displacement of refugees and scarcity.
