The Faculty of Social Work is committed to a graduate education program that will enhance the quality of individual and community well being.  Our focus is with the development of advanced social work intervention methods as well as with broader aspects and issues of service delivery, professional leadership, social policy analysis, and social welfare research.

Students may select major areas of study such as: social policy, social justice and human rights, direct practice, community development and research.  The MSW program provides an option to complete the program with a thesis or a practicum.

Program Objective
The MSW program is designed to enable students to undertake a variety of responsibilities in management, policy formulation, program consultation, planning, research roles, and advanced direct social work practice within human services. Fundamental to the program is an emphasis on integrative analysis as a means of understanding the manner in which social research, direct social work practice, social policy development, and social administration are interrelated.
Candidates may be enrolled on either a full time or part time basis. Students must maintain candidacy. No more than two semesters may elapse before a student is required to register. Students have a maximum of five years to complete the thesis program and six years to complete the practicum program.

The professional Master's option in Journalism is a 30 credit program to be completed over three semesters. It is not an academic track degree; rather it is designed to develop students' capacity for advanced journalistic investigation. Candidates will take a suite of core courses in the theory, history and methods of journalism as well as two advanced specialization options (in print, magazine, broadcast, documentary, international media, alternative media or photojournalism). An outside elective will draw on the resources of other departments and programs and will be related to students' professional capstone projects. In lieu of a thesis, their professional Master’s project will be completed under the supervision of an assigned faculty member. Long-form journalism proposals may include a film or radio documentary; a creative non-fiction or investigative series for magazine, newspaper or online publication; a publisher-ready book proposal and first chapter; a photo-journalism exhibit; or a community-based media project. Students will follow a rigorous and methodical process of research planning and investigation to produce journalism of publication / broadcast quality. Proposals must meaningfully advance the public interest.  Students will also participate in a Master's workshop, as they move from the conceptualization and investigation phases to the project production phase. The Department of Computer Science offers programs of study involving interdepartmental, multi-institutional and inter-institutional collaboration that has attracted faculty members and graduate students from all over the world. Students may pursue full-time or part-time graduate study leading towards the MSc and PhD degrees.

MSc in Computer Science - Human-Centred Computing
A fully-qualified student may complete a Master's in Human-Centred Computing by undertaking 30 credits of coursework. Students in this route who are interested in pursuing the Co-op Designation must complete CS 700, 730, 731, 732, 733, 734, 735, and 736 before they can undertake any co-op work terms.

The MA in Justice Studies offers grounding in theoretical issues and methodological approaches to various aspects of justice, including legal, criminal, restorative, and social justice. This is an interdisciplinary degree that draws on a range of university resources to individualize students’ programs and to explore justice from a range of perspectives.

Research opportunities are available in the following areas:

• The social contexts of crime
• Critical analysis of judicial processes, correctional and restorative justice programs, and victims' services
• Social justice issues and movements related to economic equality, political participation, gender equality, ethno-cultural identity, and other aspects of inequality and injustice

Geography and environmental studies differ from other subjects due to their emphasis on space, place, and how humans connect and interact with their environment. Major global challenges of our time, such as climate change, depletion of natural resources, water availability, migration, war and conflict are better understood and addressed by those who have an in-depth knowledge of geography and environmental studies. The subject is diverse and is based on both natural science and social studies.

What is Geography and Environmental Studies?
Geography and Environmental Studies encompasses three areas:

• Human geography
• Physical geography
• Environmental studies

Human geography analyses the way humans use and understand the world and addresses the spatial differentiation and organization of human activity and its interrelationships with the physical environment.

Physical geography—a component of Earth sciences—is the study of the natural processes that occur at and above the surface of the Earth.

Geography is one of mankind’s earliest scientific disciplines and studies the environment – everything that surrounds us, including human beings.

Environmental Studies encompasses the study of the planet and its intricate variety of living and non-living elements and processes, how human beings connect with the physical structures, institutions and economies we build, and the politics, language and culture by which we communicate.

Programs in biochemistry at the University of Regina encompass the study of proteomics and systems biology, supported by a strong background of chemistry and biology.

We offer high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs. The undergraduate programs have strong hands-on components as many courses include laboratories developed and overseen by four full-time laboratory instructors. Junior and senior students also benefit from small classes (5 - 25 students). We have an active honours program, a co-op program and many opportunities for students to participate in research projects. Accessible, modern research facilities put our PhD and MSc students at the forefront in their fields. Research
Our programs offer experiential learning in the classroom, lab, and field settings. Undergraduates have the opportunity to do their own, independent research projects, learning alongside graduate students and experienced faculty, while our graduate students can build their skills working closely with supervisors who will guide and support their growth as researchers.

The purpose of this MA program is to give graduate students in English the opportunity to complete an MA that has a creative writing emphasis and requires the submission of an extended creative work. At the same time, it will be a degree that requires a substantial amount of work within the field of English, which we also see a valuable part of the education of creative writers. It is hoped that the degree will be the foundation for careers in creative writing and editing. It is aimed at students who have aspirations in this field but have not had the rather more extensive professional experience involved with gaining admission to an M.F.A. degree.

This is a 30 credit hour (10 courses) diploma offered by Faculty of Media, Art, & Performance. It will enable students with no previous film training to gain a diploma in film production within one year.

Students will take courses in narrative modes of film production, technical aspects and media theory. The admission requirements are the same as those for the Faculty of MAP, but students must also have either a Bachelor's degree in a field other than Film Production, or 90 credit hours in any other discipline.
