You will discover that philosophy touches on almost every area of study, as all major developments in biology, economics, mathematics, physics and psychology started out as philosophical hypotheses. You will examine morality, the nature of the mind, and the structure of human thinking and you will engage in critical and creative thinking about fundamental questions, such as what is meant by a worthwhile life, what sense there is to the universe, what it means to be a good person, and what makes a just society.
Philosophy is an especially beneficial area of study for students who want to do any kind of work that requires good language and reasoning skills, including the ability to formulate good arguments and to critically appraise statements and problems. Philosophy students often go into law, but they are also successful in any field that needs clear thinking and good communication. Journalism and media, business, and education are also common career paths. Many institutions also require individuals with expertise in ethical reasoning, and many students will find that taking a double honours degree or minor in philosophy alongside an allied field will enhance their performance in that other field. Students in philosophy also tend to score very highly in post-graduate admissions tests.

What you will learn
Anthropology is the comprehensive study of human beings, past and present, in comparative, cross-cultural, and holistic light. Archaeology is a sub-discipline of Anthropology that focuses on the study of artifacts and other physical remains of past peoples in order to explore adaptation and cultural diversity over time. The Archaeology and Anthropology program at the University of Saskatchewan offers training that emphasizes the role of culture in past and present human behaviour and diversity, and that exposes students to human evolutionary, environmental, and social development and adaptation. The program demonstrates particular expertise in medical anthropology, environmental anthropology, applied (practicing) anthropology, anthropological archaeology, environmental archaeology, and bioarchaeology. We emphasize community-based and engaged learning, a commitment to reconciliation, and a broad disciplinary foundation in both anthropology and archaeology.

Bioinformatics combines biology, biochemistry, mathematics, statistics and computer science for analyzing and understanding the biochemical processes of life. If your passion is understanding biological processes, genetics, or diseases using biological information, this program would suit you well.

What you will learn
You will learn specialized computational techniques for storing, visualizing, and analyzing data generated from genome sequencing projects and technologies for determining gene expression and protein structures. You will be able to deduce information about an organism from its genome.

Environment and Society focuses on the interplay between humans and their environment including complex issues such as climate change, population growth, pollution, and management of natural resources faced by our modern society.

What you will learn
You will take courses in a diverse range of topics including the following: hydrology, climatology, vegetation, geomorphology, public policy, political studies, history, philosophy, and statistics. Through exposure to science, social science, and humanities perspectives related to the environment, you will develop an understanding of environmental science, resource management, environmental philosophy, policy, and environmental studies.

Archaeology is the study of artifacts and other physical remains of earlier societies and communities in order to unravel the mysteries of human cultural diversity and adaptation. Archaeologists can reconstruct past human behaviours and life ways from tools, shelters, ornaments, food remnants, modified landscapes, and even human remains.

What you will learn
The program focuses on the past peoples of western Canada and the broader Circumpolar North. You will have the opportunity to participate in the excavation of archaeological sites and will learn how to employ a wide variety of laboratory techniques. These include the analyses of artifacts and other archaeological materials such as human and non-human skeletal remains. You will learn how people interacted with past environments and how sociocultural explanations relevant to past human experiences are developed and tested. In sum, you will learn about how and why human behaviour has changed in the past in order to better understand human behavioural changes today and into the future.

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, accredited by the Canadian Association of Programs in Public Administration (CAPPA), is designed to prepare students for careers in public administration and policy work in diverse areas such as non-government organizations, industry associations, and, of course, the public service. MPA students are exposed to core concepts in policy formation and analysis, and have the opportunity to explore substantive areas such as social policy, health policy, innovation policy, trade and immigration policy, resource and environmental policy, and public sector management. 

The standard time in the program for the MPA is two years. However, the MPA can be completed in a period as short as 16 months (via an accelerated program) and as long as five years (the maximum time allowed in program for Masters students).

What you will learn
Your studies will focus on the fossil record of ancient organisms and their living descendants. You will learn to analyse the distribution and function of fossil animals and plants, reconstructing their evolutionary paths. Such evolutionary relationships are then tied to environmental data to reconstruct  the fossil species way of life. You will learn about human, plant and animal diversity, morphology and history.

Physics is the study of matter and energy and how they interact. Physics helps us understand how the world, and everything in it, really works. Physicists study all aspects of nature—from the study of subatomic particles to the study of astronomical objects many times larger than the sun.

What you will learn
You will discover the particles that make up the universe and the forces with which they interact. You will learn about black holes, atmospheric phenomena, new materials, quarks and gluons. You will investigate such phenomena as the big bang, quantum mechanical paradoxes and superconductivities. You will experiment using telescopes, satellites, radar, tokamaks, synchrotron and particle accelerators, and conduct space weather observations and atmospheric ozone monitoring.

Environmental biologists examine ecosystems with a focus on how living organisms interact with their environment. This program is relevant for today’s society which is facing complex environmental issues such as conservation and environmental contamination.

What you will learn
You will study the basic science of environmental biology and ecological theory and learn about complex environmental issues facing our society. Areas of emphasis are biodiversity, conservation, ecological processes at the levels of genes to communities to landscapes, environmental contamination and other aspects of applied ecology.

The Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm.) degree is a four-year program offered by the University of Saskatchewan's Edwards School of Business.
All undergraduate students admitted to the Edwards School of Business are required to complete a common first-year of studies. In January of your second year, you'll apply to a specialization in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Management, Marketing or Supply Chain Management.

Management
Management is the organization and coordination of business activities in order to achieve certain goals and objectives. The major is designed for those students who seek a business education and do not wish to narrow their focus to a specific functional area.

What you will learn
Students within the Management major have significant flexibility to take a collection of courses from accounting, finance, human resource management, marketing, management and supply chain management. This wide breadth of knowledge gives you an ideal understanding of the strategy needed to achieve overall organizational goals and objectives.
