The Faculty of Arts is the largest and most diverse faculty at Laurier with 19 departments and interdisciplinary programming spanning a number of fields in the social sciences and humanities.

Arts courses provide opportunities for you to develop important workplace skills, whether you are working towards a career in business, education or the non-profit sector. You’ll learn to challenge assumptions, communicate effectively, think critically and work cooperatively. Most importantly, you’ll be able to put ideas and issues into local, global and historical perspectives.

*Students in the Faculty of Arts will complete their UTP studies at the Brantford Campus and, upon successful completion of the program, will transfer to complete their degree at Laurier’s Waterloo campus.

Youth and Children’s Studies (Honours BA)
Our Youth and Children’s Studies program explores the culture of childhood and adolescence in the contemporary world. Learn research strategies and analytical and practical skills to successfully engage with and make a positive change in the lives of children and youth.

English (Honours BA)

Modelled on the programs at the best small Canadian universities and the elite American colleges, we offer the Laurier English program in a rigorous, intensive, small-class environment that really lets you work closely with your colleagues and your professors.

The Faculty of Human and Social Sciences (FHSS) offers many opportunities to explore complex issues relevant to today’s society. Students will learn to identify and explore social issues and build real-world connections between what they learn in class and the downtown community just outside the classroom door. You are encouraged to develop your critical thinking skills and question assumptions, while the theoretical knowledge and practical experience you’ll gain through our programs will prepare you for a variety of careers. Faculty of Human and Social Science students are passionate about making a positive contribution both locally and globally and graduate with the skills to change the world.

Health Administration (Honours BA)
Laurier Health Administration program in Brantford offers a blend of health studies, leadership, business and contemporary studies courses, designed to give students a broad understanding of the diverse factors affecting the development and delivery of health care, both domestically and internationally. With a complex set of relationships between personnel, organizations and government, health professionals require a diverse set of skills and a broad knowledge base in order to effectively work within the contemporary health-care system.

From day one, Lazaridis School students learn to work in teams tackling real-world problems that exist now. The co-op business degree is Canada’s largest to immerse students in the kinds of environments they’ll experience when they graduate.

All of this is about teaching Lazaridis School students to think for themselves, so they’ll be able to adapt to a world of ever-growing complexity, facing problems nobody has ever solved before.

The Lazaridis School operates the largest business degree co-op program in the country. Students are encouraged to explore different career options and gain valuable employment experience before they graduate. The employment rate for the Economic (BA) program in 2020 was 100%.

Students in Business and Economics will complete their UTP studies at the Brantford Campus and, upon successful completion of the program, will either be eligible to transfer or apply to transfer to complete their degree at Laurier’s Waterloo campus.

This degree pairs our Economics program with our highly ranked Finance program. You’ll graduate with the skills needed to enter the investment banking or finance profession and have the competitive career advantage of understanding the factors that influence income, wealth and well-being.

Indigenous Studies in Combination and Another Arts Major (Honours BA)
Indigenous studies is a vibrant field of social, political, historical and cultural study in Canada and around the globe. Laurier’s Indigenous Studies program is designed to teach you the perspectives and experiences of Indigenous people and will prepare you to engage with important socio-cultural issues facing Canada and the world.
