The B.Des. Programme begins with the common foundation programme for all disciplines.

The first year is a Common Foundation across different streams of design that enables you to acquire the requisite basics before embarking on three years of more specialised design education programme. Hands-on skill courses like Design drawing and Workshop skills like material manipulations, including working on a variety of materials like Wood, Bamboo, Sheet metal, Aluminium, and others form an integral part of the course curriculum.

Learn basic design theory, thorough grounding in elements of form, colour, and aesthetics besides the important sensitisation courses like Environmental Perception and History of Design that aim to give you a complete understanding and perspective of Design as a whole.
Apart from these regular inputs, you also get to learn basic computer skills, photography, printing basics, and presentations. Get introduced to critical thinking, culture studies, and communication that give you an edge in your chosen profession. Basics on Leadership courses along with inputs on Entrepreneurship prepare you for a fulfilling career ahead. We encourage you to write blogs, keep a journal, maintain a sketch book to develop deeper interest and insight in the subject.

Entrepreneurship plays a vital role in industrial development by shaping business, economy and society. It has now emerged as a viable profession that can be created and fostered through specific educational and training programs. Entrepreneurship is no longer about start-ups, venture capitalists and investors only but also about building an entrepreneurial mindset. Entrepreneurship is a crucial life skill that nurtures an innovative mindset for solving the needs, pains, and problems of the society and create a better world. The programme aims to encourage students to nurture their entrepreneurial traits and think creatively to develop innovative ideas of products and services for commercial exploitation beyond the prototype stage. Students of Entrepreneurship experience a sense of achievement by creating, managing, and leading entrepreneurial setups. B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering programme at JKLU provides fundamental knowledge of the basic concepts and theories of analysis, systems implementation, operation, production, and maintenance of the various applications in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering. This programme aims to develop Electronics and Communication Engineers who are able to leverage cutting edge technologies to lead organisations through their digital transformation.

Recently, the IT Industry has shifted towards business process automation. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is one of the widely adopted techniques not only in the IT industries but also in the non-IT industries to automate their monotonous and laborious tasks to gain efficiency, accuracy, and cost management. RPA can be implemented with the help of various RPA tools such as Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, UiPath, HelpsSystems, and Pega Robotics.

Mechanical Engineering is one of the primordial branches of engineering. The programme incorporates courses from the area of design, manufacturing, and thermal. To remain in sync with the industry, the programme offers compulsory core courses, department electives, interdisciplinary courses, open electives, and practice schools for industrial training. The associated laboratory work and projects provide an opportunity for hands-on experience and a better understanding of the course. Project-based learning is adopted, where students are encouraged to innovate and work on a project while learning the course. Automobile designers are professionals who work on the visual appearance or aesthetics of a vehicle. They are also involved in the creation of new products that suit the needs of car segments for which the design is being catered. Automobile Design and Engineering is a course offered in combination with electrical, electronics, safety, and software engineering. It is highly productive for those who want to work in automotive development and manufacturing companies. Skills required include an artistic bent of mind along with knowledge of interiors and colour designing. An aspirant should also have technical expertise in ergonomics, vehicle body part design, and design software.

BCA at JKLU is designed to offer application based learning in computer application through a cross-disciplinary and multi-perspective curriculum that focusses on building skills and a knowledge base for computer application development and IT administration. Red Hat, Cisco, ORACLE, and IBM certifications are also available to students.

Embedded system developers write code that powers refrigerators, printers, ovens, or toasters that makes everyone’s life easier. The embedded coding runs before the operating system even loads. These developers work on the operating system in real-time and write the real hardware code to function correctly. They work closely with hardware engineers because they write device drivers. Embedded system developers can look forward to a bright future. Qualcomm, Intel, Tata Elxsi, HCL Technologies all of these companies hire embedded software engineers.
Simultaneously, IoT is making significant strides as more things are getting connected to the internet. Many experts predict that two-third of the new businesses will be dependent on IoT by the end of this year. Keeping this in mind, IoT offers the potential for a “fourth industrial revolution.” IoT ecosystem consists of intelligent devices that are web-enabled and use embedded systems such as sensors, processors, and communication hardware that collect the information and then share, analyse the data they collect and then act on it. The data obtained by the sensors of an IoT in the environment is shared by connecting to an IoT gateway that sends the data to the cloud for analysis. The data is analysed locally. These devices can often connect to similar devices and share the information and then act on the data they acquire from each other.
