M.Sc. (Petroleum Geo-Sciences)- Environmental Geo-Chemistry

Environmental geochemistry has grown rapidly over the last decade and is the core of environmental sector. Global environmental consultancy market is the primary destination for suitably skilled graduates. This field is currently growing at its strongest rate for five years. Environmental Geochemistry expertise is key to many aspects of the day-to-day work of environmental consultants, geologists, civil, structural and mining engineers, environmental regulatory authorities, mining and oil companies.

Environmental geochemistry is concerned with the sources, distribution and interactions of chemical elements in rocks, soils, waters, air and biological material. It concerns studying a wide variety of environmental materials using a range of analytical tools that include field investigation, chemical instrumentation, and digital modelling.

Environmental geochemistry graduates are well suited for environmental consulting, specializing in interpretation of complex datasets and chemical behaviour, or for analysing scientific data for a commercial or research laboratory. The M.Sc. Environmental Geochemistry program has been developed in response to this demand for high-level skills in this field.

UPES provides unique and focused Integrated M.Sc-PhD course aiming to deliver expertise in theoretical and experimental understanding of Physics and its allied disciplines. The program is designed such that after completing it, students would be able to excel in academia, industries, and research. The faculty members in the department have diverse research expertise including but not limited to materials science, nanotechnology, renewable energy, computational materials science, high energy physics, nuclear physics, plasmonics, spintronics, etc., which would provide students flexibility in opting for their PhD topic. The specialisation will equip students to implement environment-friendly and sustainable solutions in the construction of buildings. Students will gain knowledge of how technological advancements can be employed to achieve better resource utilization.

The Integrated (B.Des) - (M.Des) - in Product Design lays emphasis on a process-centric approach of participation and teamwork to shape the students’ education. The curriculum is designed in a way that gradually increases in complexity levels and covers broad areas that product designers will come across in their professional careers. Collaborative projects with industrial houses, social sector, government and multinational companies are a part of the education process.

B.Tech Electrical Engineering with specialisation in electric vehicle and grid management is designed to provide advanced knowledge in design, develop and application of electrical equipment such as motors, generators, transformers, batteries, switchgear and protection, analyze charging and grid management system in coordination with e-vehicles. It provides advanced skills on e-vehicular technology and its efficient application in grid management system.

Propulsion and Engine systems plays a vital role in development of various automobile, transport vehicles, aircrafts, rocket engines, ships and navel transport vehicle. The major source of energy to these systems is through the combustion and hence the design of combustion chamber plays a vital role. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) explores the design, monitoring and analysis of propulsion and engine systems. The core part of the course consists of modules, which are considered to build the necessary foundation of the combustion modelling. The advancements in the combustion technology, challenges in designing advance combustion chambers like burners, IC engine Combustion systems, jet engine combustion systems, fuel injectors, supersonic combustors in Scramjets and Rocket engine combustions. The Modelling of these systems are associated with various challenges like flame stabilization studies, turbulence combustion, Spray Systems, multiphase combustion, Microgravity combustion, flames and reactive flows, This module covers Recent Trends in Modelling of Combustion and its available numerical models and computational tools along with the expectation for further developing CFD techniques in the field.

B.Sc. in industrial chemistry offered at UPES is a three-year undergraduate course. Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Legislative Law (BBA + LLB) is a five-year integrated dual degree course which provides an integrated study of management studies and legislative law in an entirely independent manner.
