UPES School of Design’s Under Graduate Programme, B.Des. in Product Design lays emphasis on a process-centric approach of participation and teamwork to shape the students’ education. The curriculum is designed in a way that gradually increases in complexity levels and covers broad areas that product designers will come across in their professional careers. Collaborative projects with industrial houses, social sector, government and multinational companies are a part of the education process.

Plant Biotechnology assist in developing new varieties of crop like genetically engineered crop, marker assisted selection, genetics and genomics, etc. This field of study helps in identifying and mapping genes, discovering their functions and transferring desired gene to specific plants as per requirement. This branch of study also focuses on all aspects of the genetic engineering process to enhance efficiency, expression and precision of added gene.

This programs’ problem-based learning mechanism, emphasizes on genomics, proteomics and metabolomics. The curriculum for Plant Biotechnology is planned with theoretical studies, where students will get hands on experience by performing some of the techniques used to detect genetic variations and its implications in plants. Students will be subjected to problem solving sessions to enhance their ability to apply and design their own research projects.

This integrated specialization further offers students a chance to choose between two MBA specializations: 

• Biotechnology Marketing
• Biotechnology Product Management

Banking, Management Insurance gives students an in-depth understanding of the economic, financial and banking affairs. It helps students gain adequate knowledge about the management of financial risk along with the general management areas such as strategy, marketing, and organisational studies. The specialisation aims to inculcate training and practical approach among the students by using modern technologies, and also to give adequate exposure to the operational environment in the field of banking.

The growing communications industry in India has opened new avenues for media professionals. This degree program caters to the growing demand for digital savvy communicators in this space. It is designed to empower students interested in strategic communications, event management, public relations & corporate communications. The program focuses on developing marketing campaigns, internal & external communication skills & strategic media planning. Students interested in careers in PR Agencies, Event Management Companies, Corporates or the Public Sector would be a good fit for this course.
 

The Specialization in Media Management, Marketing Campaigns and Strategic Communications, equips students with a strategic 360-degree corporate communication toolset for effective marketing communication. Students interested in managing brand products, working in the marketing space globally, using development communication in the social sector or entering strategic communications professionally or particularly suited for this course. The broad themes students would be exploring in detail as part of this specialisation include: Managing Brands, Marketing Communications, Product Management, Campaign Design, Strategic Marketing and Communication for Social Development.

M.Sc. with specialization of nutrition and dietetics is two year master program, which covers all theory and practical courses of nutrition and dietetics.  This program enable the students to learn the methods of assessing human nutritional requirements, nutritional assessment and diet planning.

Mechanical engineering is the study, design, development, construction, and testing of mechanical and thermal sensors and devices, including tools, engines, and machines. Mechanical engineering careers center on creating technologies to meet a wide range of human needs. Mechanical engineering has its roots in the industrial revolution with the advent of the steam engine, automated manufacturing, and the demands of railroad transportation requiring increasingly innovative and sophisticated engineering solutions. Mechanical engineers are also pioneers in the air travel industry. Mechanical engineers design everything from new batteries, athletic equipment to medical devices and from personal computers, air conditioners, automobile engines to electric power plants. These engineers also design machines that produce these innovations.  

Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Legislative Law (BBA + LLB) is a five-year integrated dual degree course which provides an integrated study of management studies and legislative law in an entirely independent manner.

This course has been designed to examine the interactions between food production and consumption, health, and environment through environmental and food justice lenses. Building on concepts developed in food systems, it explores topics such as public health disparities and their structural causes, environmental toxins in the food system and their impact on workers and consumers, as well as policies that have or could affect these outcomes, in both historical and contemporary contexts.

Apart from conceptual discussion and debates, the program also includes field trips and/or guest lectures to give practical experience to the learners.

PhD in Electronics Engineering is the highest academic degree awarded in the study of Electronics Engineering.

In this program, a student learns about the basics food preservation and conservation. In this particular specialization, the Design of food process plant, Food plant location, Food plant layout, requirements like water supply, Electricity supply, clean environment and location, Contraction material used, Waste management, cleaning and sanitisation are main course content. The equipment used during food processing, packaging requirement, utensils, standards related to material used in construction of food processing equipment’s, standardisation of food process, arrangements of equipment’s in best possible way.  The food processing Industry visit carried out for practical knowledge.  Food Industry Trainings are also carried out. Scope and importance of food plant engineering, Processing methods and their requirements, Preservation by drying, Preservation by low temperature, heat treatments, and Food conversion operation. In this a student learns about various techniques and procedures involved in food packaging. This subject helps a student to understand the importance of processing of various kinds of food products. This course covers both practical and theoretical aspects of food industry.

Biosimilar is that branch of study which deals with study of drugs that are very similar to original product, but not identical. They are not generic drugs and do not possess the same active pharmaceutical ingredient, yet comparable to original reference drug in terms of quality, safety and efficacy. Biosimilar are alternative potential therapeutics but not generics. For biosimilar products, the manufacturing process requires a high level of monitoring and testing.  

At UPES, B.Tech. Biotechnology students with a specialization in Biosimilar will be made familiar with existing regulations, manufacturing sciences and distribution practices of Biosimilar products in India and all across the globe. Students will learn about controversies associated with Generic drugs and need for development of Biosimilar products. Students will also learn how a drug is discovered in a lab, followed by testing in clinical trials and then launched in market for commercialization.
