B.Sc. Geology Hons. program provides specialization in Geoinformatics

Geoinformatics is the science and the technology, which develops and applies information science infrastructure to solve geoscience and engineering related problems. It deals with the structure and character of spatial information, its capture, classification and qualification, storage, processing, description and propagation, including the infrastructure required for optimal use of this information. Earth science increasingly relies on digital spatial data acquired from remotely sensed images analyzed by GIS photograph interpretation, and web mining.  Geoinformatics combines geospatial analysis and modeling, development of geospatial databases, information systems design, human-computer interaction and both wired and wireless networking technologies. Geoinformatics is analyzed using geo-computation and geo-visualization for fields such as urban planning and land use management.

Pharmaceutical Biotechnology can be defined as that branch of study which applies principles of biotechnology in development of therapeutics. This is one of the fastest growing areas in the pharma sector. Development of diagnostics as a point of care using pharmaceutical Biotechnology is widespread in todays’ world. Common biopharmaceutical products include proteins, antibodies, aptamers, recombinant DNA products, gene therapy, engineered enzyme, etc.  Pharmaceutical biotechnology companies develop tailor-made medicine for maximum therapeutic effects. A majority of therapeutic drugs in the current market are pharmaceutical application biotechnology principles such as antibodies, nucleic acid products and vaccines.

This multidisciplinary course has broad scope not only with theoretical knowledge, but with skill development opportunities and also focuses on practical content, exposure to pre-clinical studies and marketing. This course will cover all the technologies associated with production, manufacturing and registration of biological drugs. Dietetics is a science that deals with the adequacy of diet during normal life cycle and modifications required during diseased condition. Holistic wellness is associated with an active process of being aware and making choices that lead toward an outcome of optimal holistic health and wellbeing. This specialization enable the students to learn the methods of assessing human nutritional requirements, dietary assessment and diet planning. It imparts the understanding of the concepts of diet therapy, basic dietetics, public health, therapeutic nutrition and alternative wellness therapies. It deals with diet monitoring, food exchange and calorie calculation. This specialization covers all Incidence, etiology, pathology & metabolic aberrations, clinical manifestation, complications, dietary management &counseling of Acute and chronic fever, Surgery, burns and trauma.
