Masters in Microbiology is a two year course that offers two specialization streams namely Food and Environmental Microbiology and Medical and Pharmaceutical Microbiology.

Medical Microbiology comprises and integrates the fields of immunology, bacteriology, virology, mycology, and parasitology. The common bond between them is the focus on the causes of infectious diseases and on the reactions of the host to the pathogens. The objective of specialized course of medical microbiology is to provide in-depth knowledge of the etiologic organisms causing diseased and the pathogenic mechanisms leading to clinically manifest infections into its host. This knowledge is a necessary prerequisite for the diagnosis, therapy, and prevention of any infectious diseases, indispensable for both biotech, pharma industries and academic sectors.

As pharmaceutical microbiology is crucial to the manufacture and production of drugs, biologics and devices, it is absolutely important that people working in these industries have a strong understanding and in-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical microbiological principles, techniques, processes and strategies in order to avoid any potentially costly and life-threatening failures and consequences.

M.Sc. (Petroleum Geo-Sciences)- Environmental Geo-Chemistry

Environmental geochemistry has grown rapidly over the last decade and is the core of environmental sector. Global environmental consultancy market is the primary destination for suitably skilled graduates. This field is currently growing at its strongest rate for five years. Environmental Geochemistry expertise is key to many aspects of the day-to-day work of environmental consultants, geologists, civil, structural and mining engineers, environmental regulatory authorities, mining and oil companies.

Environmental geochemistry is concerned with the sources, distribution and interactions of chemical elements in rocks, soils, waters, air and biological material. It concerns studying a wide variety of environmental materials using a range of analytical tools that include field investigation, chemical instrumentation, and digital modelling.

Environmental geochemistry graduates are well suited for environmental consulting, specializing in interpretation of complex datasets and chemical behaviour, or for analysing scientific data for a commercial or research laboratory. The B. Tech. Applied Petroleum Engineering spl. in Gas (APEG) is a unique program which allows the students to have the feel of both the upstream – natural gas exploration and production & downstream - natural gas processing and distribution. The students understand the concepts of how natural gas reserves are explored, extracted, processed and then distributed. Students study courses like Enhanced oil recovery, Gasification & Gas to Liquid Technology, liquefied natural gas, city gas distribution etc., with hands-on experience using software like PIPESIM, SIMSCI PIPEPHASE and MATLAB. Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Legislative Law (BBA + LLB) is a five-year integrated dual degree course which provides an integrated study of management studies and legislative law in an entirely independent manner.

This is a 5-year full-time course, which explores the role of international economic law in the contemporary global economy. It provides an overview of the legal foundations of the global economy and the regulatory frameworks governing international trade and investment relations.

The emphasis of the course is upon how international trade economics interacts with domestic investment law and cross-border investment law keeping in view MNC’s as well as other state and non-state actors.

This course provides an overview and introduction to financial economic analysis covering markets, institutions, structures, and instruments. Some of the basic models used to benchmark valuation of assets and derivatives are studied in detail. These include the Capital Asset Pricing Model and the Binomial Option Pricing model. The course ends with a brief introduction to corporate finance.

This course deals with the inter-combination of statistics and computer science with an aim to extract patterns of information from given raw data (unprocessed data) and transform the data to provide meaningful information for business use. It covers the concepts of machine learning used as data mining techniques and touches upon the differences between data science and data mining. Students will be able to use the different data mining techniques such as association, clustering, and use different data mining applications such as market basket analysis and customer relationship management.
