The specialisation educates students in regulating and resolving disputes relating to both individual labour laws i.e. the employees’ rights at work and the employment standards as well as the tripartite labour laws i.e. the relationship between the employer, employee, and the union. UPES provides students with an opportunity to complete two seminar papers and a dissertation exclusively in labour laws under the mentorship of the faculty and an industry-based professional.

With the advent of massive digitization and integration of business processes, huge amount of data is generated across various applications. Managing and processing data is increasingly becoming difficult with the conventional techniques and tools. Big data analytics is a domain that deals with the analysis of huge and heterogeneous data. The course focuses on Big Data analysis, existing frameworks, techniques, and its real-world applications along with the key technologies used in manipulating, storing, and analysing it. ?

This program provides students with an understanding of international trade negotiations and their relevance in the global business environment. The course equips them with the latest developments taking place in the area of foreign trade, and the ability to apply that knowledge in practical situations.

B.Sc. Geology Hons. program provides specialization in Groundwater exploration and management.

Groundwater exploration involves investigation of underground rocks to understand the hydrologic cycle, the groundwater quality, and identify the nature, number and type of aquifers. Most of the liquid freshwater resources are stored underground as groundwater (99%). Its regional distribution varies and depends mainly on climatic conditions as well as the geology of the subsurface. In contrast to petroleum and minerals, a great amount of the groundwater is recharged in the hydrologic cycle by infiltrating precipitation.

A thorough knowledge on groundwater resources leads to its sustainable utilization, where the regional distribution of water resources, hydraulic characteristics of the aquifer and the regional and temporal variations of the water quality are important factors. The recharge, the natural runoff and groundwater abstraction rates are indispensable information for sustainable groundwater management. The data required for a resource assessment is obtained by hydrogeological exploration, observations and measurements at boreholes and wells, geophysical investigations, airborne geophysical surveys, satellite imagery, and meteorological observations. Methods such as geoelectrics, airborne electromagnetics, and transient electromagnetics are also applied for groundwater exploration.

This specialisation explores the complex legal issues arising out of international banking, trade, and business from the standpoint of both transactional perspective and dispute settlement mechanisms (litigation and arbitration). Particularly oriented towards practice in these fields, the modules have a distinctly international and comparative dimension whilst at the same time drawing strongly on the rich tradition and experience of Indian law.

Biosimilar is that branch of study which deals with study of drugs that are very similar to original product, but not identical. They are not generic drugs and do not possess the same active pharmaceutical ingredient, yet comparable to original reference drug in terms of quality, safety and efficacy. Biosimilar are alternative potential therapeutics but not generics. For biosimilar products, the manufacturing process requires a high level of monitoring and testing.  

At UPES, B.Tech. Biotechnology students with a specialization in Biosimilar will be made familiar with existing regulations, manufacturing sciences and distribution practices of Biosimilar products in India and all across the globe. Students will learn about controversies associated with Generic drugs and need for development of Biosimilar products. Students will also learn how a drug is discovered in a lab, followed by testing in clinical trials and then launched in market for commercialization.

The Integrated B.Tech Food Technology-M.B.A program helps students save one year, as it is a 5-year program in which students get both B.Tech Food Technology Degree as well as MBA degree and it is as per UGC Norms. This specialization lays a solid foundation in all areas of food biotechnology and provides a comprehensive review of the biological and chemical concepts that are important in each discipline. Food Biotechnology is a branch of food science in which modern biotechnological techniques are applied. It covers topics ranging from molecular biology to industrial applications of food biotechnology for the improvement of food and food products. It prepares students for careers in the dynamic food sector as well as for research and development.
