Environmental Engineering encompasses ecology, geology, chemistry, biology, hydrology, microbiology and considered to be a vast field. It’s major emphasis is on protection of all living organism, their health and environment. It is a discipline related to Civil Engineering as well as Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. Environmental engineers are involved in the field of water and waste management, and involved in the major challenges like global warming, acid rain, ozone depletion, and water and air pollution. That requires a specialized training in the field and owing to this Uttaranchal University offers a post graduate program in the field of Environment Engineering.

Program curriculum has been designed to fulfil the growing demand for individuals who can respond to the advanced knowledge needs of industry, research organisations, and academics. It is focused on research and development, as well as exposure to and experience working with cutting-edge technology. Students in this curriculum are exposed to cutting-edge technology, such as, water treatment plant design and waste water treatment facility design, Solid waste management, as well as, understanding of national and international environmental standards. Apart from that students will be exposed to practical learning through lab and field work, Dissertation projects and working on problems that are directly related to human health and societal concerns related to environment.

Food industry is a major industry which requires highly skilled professionals to ensure the food quality, safety and worldwide management. The aim of this course is to provide in-depth study of various areas related to food technology that will enable the students to understand food composition, their nutritional, microbiological, processing and organoleptic aspects. This program also upskills the students in the processing techniques by in hand training in food industries. They are also taught about the importance of food plant sanitation, international and national food laws and regulations applicable in food industry.

BA (Hons) Economics aims to develop the necessary skills to analyze economic phenomena. Students will develop the necessary skills to empirically validate economic theories. The significance of the Programme lies in the statistical methods in research which will develop research-based skills to construct and analyze qualitative and quantitative data. The Programme will enable the students to understand the economic issues at the local and global level and also to critically analyze government Policies and Programmes announced and implemented to resolve the issues.

Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) integrated with ACCA (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants) program is designed by academia and corporate experts. The main aim of this course is to equip students with all the skills required to advance their careers in the fast-emerging corporate industry. The program is intended to be a mix of theoretical and practical methodologies conveyed through smart classrooms, guest lectures or discussions by business or corporate experts, seminars/webinars, workshops and industrial visits and so on. The teaching method is planned considering the high dynamism of the modern world. The contents of the learning are designed in manner that students will be capable to adjust to all un-foreseen events taking place in the business world.

B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics with Research is a 4 year degree program being offered in Mathematics discipline. It is dedicated for applied research in the field of Mathematical Sciences and further helps in enhancing research acumen of the scholar along with exposure to internship in related fields.

The B.Sc (Agri.) programme is an undergraduate programme related to the field of agriculture. The focus of this study is on agriculture. Under this programme, students are trained about the most modern methods used in fertilizers; plant biotechnology. The programme apart from training in scientific skills also trains in marketing skills of agriculture products. Under this study, the students are exposed to real life rural settings with the aim to develop a sense of awareness among the students so that they can understand the problems of farmers and rural people.

M.Sc. Food Nutrition and Dietetics provides concepts related to human nutrition and dietetic practice. It develops advances skills to pursue research in the field of human nutrition and dietetics. The programme is suitable for those who have patience and genuine concern for fellow beings, planning & administrative skills, organizational ability and good communication skills. The aspirant should have an interest in food preparation and should be capable of creating awareness regarding health improvement, prevention of diseases and control of existing ailments.

The MBA programme is designed to match the needs and requirements of industry and commerce and to fulfil the aspirations of future managers.
