Massey’s Graduate Diploma in Arts (Creative Writing) will give you the equivalent of an undergraduate major in creative writing without completing a second bachelor’s degree. You can then apply for postgraduate study in creative writing if you wish.

Expressive arts is unique in New Zealand and was created in response to student demand. As part of your study, you will be able to choose from a range of activities such as devising, directing and writing theatre, writing creative works including fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, writing for children, and screenplays, or filming and producing digital video.

Specialise in Statistics for your Master of Science at Massey
The Master of Science (Statistics) will teach you the key theories of statistics and the quantitative skills to conduct robust statistical analyses that are effective in the real world. It is most appropriate if you are passionate about statistics and wish to move on to further in-depth research.

Linguistics is the study of language, including:

• Its structure and meaning
• How it is learnt and used
• What our language says about who we are and where we come from.

From interacting with friends to communicating with colleagues, language plays a fundamental role in both our public and private lives. This includes written and spoken communication, problem-solving, and social and cultural awareness. Our lecturers will encourage you to develop a deeper understanding of your own self-identity and social interactions.

The field of education is filled with interesting possibilities. Education provides a critical analysis of contemporary educational theories, policies, and practices. Theoretical understanding and research skills enhance the way we analyse and bring information together.

With a Massey Diploma in Arts, you can study what you enjoy and explore subject areas that spark your interest.

You can complete the Diploma in Arts with or without an endorsement in a subject area. Completing the diploma without endorsement lets you sample different subjects and build a qualification that reflects your own particular interests.

If you want to take an endorsement, you can choose from 25 subjects from the Bachelor of Arts degree and specialise in the one that sparks your passion.

Massey’s Diploma in Arts is extremely flexible and you can include courses from many disciplines, including some from outside the humanities and social sciences.

Massey’s Graduate Diploma in Information Sciences will give you the software design and development skills needed to make you a sought-after employee, both in New Zealand, and internationally.

Massey is one of the few universities in New Zealand where your information sciences qualification covers all five disciplines of computer science, data science, information technology, information systems and software engineering.  Many graduates have found it really useful to complete the Graduate Diploma “with no endorsement”.  This means that you can select the courses you are most interested in from across the range of subjects.  You are strongly encouraged to select “no endorsement”.

You’ll learn a broad spectrum of skills from business management through to software development.  So you’ll emerge from your studies at Massey with a well-rounded understanding of the whole industry. You’ll gain the applied skills that you’ll need to become an excellent ICT professional.

The Master of Quality Systems is unique in New Zealand. It is the only graduate-level tertiary academic qualification in quality management throughout New Zealand and Australia. It will give you a career advantage in seeking positions related to quality management.

What will you learn?
This program focuses on developing critical awareness of and expertise in the following areas:

• Quality management and its component aspects (inspection, quality control, assurance, and continual improvement).
• Contemporary quality thinking and methods including iso systems, statistical thinking, systems thinking, business excellence, lean, and six sigma improvement.
• The application of management theory to quality systems
• Ability to conduct self-directed research in an aspect of quality management theory or practice

• Management of people undertaking quality projects and the people-related aspects of quality program implementation.

Topics you will study include quality systems design, lean management, six sigma statistical analysis, value chain management and quality improvement. You will learn how to undertake in-depth research, followed by your own in-depth research (thesis) on an area of interest to you.

Develop your interests from your undergraduate degree. The Massey PGDipArts (Social Anthropology) gives you a different perspective on world affairs. Studying social anthropology develops your understanding of other cultures and ethnic groups. You’ll discover how your way of life is just one of many possible ways of being human.
