A postgraduate diploma is the stepping stone to a research-based qualification such as a master’s degree. Massey University’s Postgraduate Diploma in Science and Technology (Zoology) gives you the opportunity to join the pathway to in-depth research at a master's level. With the Exercise and Sport Science major, you’ll study the key sport and exercise subjects including:

• Biomechanics
• Exercise physiology
• Motor control
• Sport nutrition
• Sport psychology.

Complemented by a strong understanding of other biophysical sciences, you’ll gain an in-depth knowledge of factors that influence health and sports performance.
Our research-active staff will help you apply the latest knowledge to various sporting situations. You’ll gain an understanding of how to optimise athletic performance and health through technology, nutrition, psychology and exercise. Additionally, you’ll learn how training and performance are affected by different environments and the power of the mind.

To learn about history is to learn about change in the world and in ourselves. Having a better understanding of history will make you more broad-minded as a person and citizen.

History is a topic as large as our recorded past. Our cultural heritages, literatures, arts, religions, politics, economics, social behaviours, buildings and landscapes all derive from past influences.

Massey offers a range of topics so you can explore your own particular interests. Topics you could study include:

The Postgraduate Diploma in Information Sciences will give you in-depth knowledge and expertise in Computer Science, Information Technology or Software Engineering. Many students choose to complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Information Sciences with a mix of courses that best suit you.

You can include courses in computer science, information technology or software engineering. You can also add data science, cyber security, information systems and/or business management.

The world looks to New Zealand as a trustworthy provider of safe, healthy food. As a food technologist you will learn how to contribute to economic growth through improvements in productivity and Research and Development (R&D). You will play a key role in the development of new products and processes for the food industry.

Developing and improving food products, nutrition, health and safety are a priority for food technologists. You will learn how to produce products that consumers desire. 

The Master of Engineering Studies (Electronics and Computer Engineering) combines taught and research courses at a postgraduate level.

If you are already working, or your research experience is limited, this qualification will give you the learning you need to take your career to the next level or pursue more in-depth postgraduate research.

Gain an understanding of the political, economic, social, and cultural factors that influence the development, implementation, and evaluation of social policy in Aotearoa New Zealand. You’ll study law, politics and the roles of central and local government in a democratic society. This will give you insights into the relationships between the state, judiciary, legal system, political parties and public in shaping legislation and developing policy.

The Graduate Diploma in Arts (Politics and International Relations) is a bridging tool for graduates in other subjects to get the equivalent of a major in politics.

It’s concerned with the conflict of ideas and values.
