In the Bachelor of Communication (Linguistics), you will explore how language works to generate meaning and how it is used not only to share information, but also to manage social relations and influence behaviour. You will also learn about the unwritten rules that shape all of our social interactions.

English offers exciting and challenging courses to extend your knowledge of literary and media texts and expressive arts. Courses taught in the English program cover a wide spectrum of topics. These include British, American, New Zealand, and postcolonial literature. You will also have the choice of courses in drama, creative writing, speaking, media studies, film, and gender issues. All of these courses are concerned with the fundamental skills of interpretation and expression.

You can complete the Diploma in Arts with or without an endorsement in a subject area. Completing the diploma without endorsement lets you sample different subjects and build a qualification that reflects your own particular interests.

If you want to take an endorsement, you can choose from 25 subjects from the Bachelor of Arts degree and specialise in the one that sparks your passion.

Massey’s Diploma in Arts is extremely flexible and you can include courses from many disciplines, including some from outside the humanities and social sciences.
