By bringing together students from design and fine arts, the MFA fosters intense conversations and exploration.

Choose whether you want to graduate with an MFA in design, in fine arts or without endorsement if you believe your work cannot be framed in terms of either discipline.
We have had students join the qualification whose undergraduate training is in fashion design, photography, textile design, industrial design, graphic design, fine arts and even music.

The Diploma in Business Studies is a flexible program that can be completed in one year full-time.

The Bachelor of Screen Arts with Honours (Animation) major caters for those interested in joining the industry, as well as providing pathways for students wishing to gain studio employment or explore the medium as independent filmmakers.

Our focus is on skills using sophisticated, industry-standard 3D and 2D software to greatly enhance workflow. By becoming artistically and technically competent, you will work smarter instead of harder, freeing you to enjoy your craft as capable animators within a variety of team-based production environments.

In this major you will learn how to animate, focusing on the principles of the craft and learn how to model, texture and light 3D assets. There will be opportunities to work in team-based production environments, as well as on personal animation projects.

You will have regular access to leading industry-standard film production equipment and the opportunity to work in industry specific film crew roles on your own project.

You'll gain practical experience in a wide range of roles, before specialising in your chosen area and collaborating on independently-developed productions. You'll be working on a wide range of creative projects, using both contemporary filmmaking techniques as well as emerging technologies like Virtual Production.

The Film Production Major will train you in the art of developing and producing stories for film, and you'll gain expertise in telling the stories that are important to you and in helping others realise their creative visions as well.

With a Massey Diploma in Arts, you can study what you enjoy and explore subject areas that spark your interest.

You can complete the Diploma in Arts with or without an endorsement in a subject area. Completing the diploma without endorsement lets you sample different subjects and build a qualification that reflects your own particular interests.

If you want to take an endorsement, you can choose from 25 subjects from the Bachelor of Arts degree and specialise in the one that sparks your passion.

Massey’s Diploma in Arts is extremely flexible and you can include courses from many disciplines, including some from outside the humanities and social sciences.

With Massey’s Diploma in Arts (Portuguese) you’ll gain general knowledge and understanding of the Portuguese language and Brazilian culture. Brazilian Portuguese has a slightly different grammatical structure to European Portuguese, but is similar enough that speakers of Brazilian Portuguese would understand and be understood by speakers of European Portuguese.

You don’t need any knowledge of Portuguese to enrol. You’ll progressively develop communication skills in oral and written Portuguese, from introductory to advanced level. You’ll gain an understanding and appreciation of Brazilian culture and heritage. You’ll also learn to apply your knowledge to analyse, communicate ideas and solve basic problems in diverse contexts. This will make you highly employable in a range of careers.

Specialise in Linguistics for your Bachelor of Communication at Massey

The Bachelor of Communication (Linguistics) you will explore how the brain manages language and the unwritten rules of interaction. 
In the Bachelor of Communication (Linguistics), you will explore how language works to generate meaning and how it is used not only to share information, but also to manage social relations and influence behaviour. You will also learn about the unwritten rules that shape all of our social interactions.

The world is undergoing a radical shift in how people communicate, work and share ideas. Visual communication design (VCD) offers huge scope and flexibility. At Massey, we teach a diverse range of media, like print, web and video, and give you the chance to try all of them. Within VCD you can explore and specialise in print, typographic and editorial design, information and graphic design, web, interaction and service design, and illustration and branding. You’ll learn to solve complex design problems. You’ll follow your interests and aspirations by developing a higher level of expertise in a specific area.

When you study photography at Massey, you’ll be taught by award-winning photographers and designers. You’ll learn alongside other aspiring photographers in a challenging yet supportive environment.

With taught courses in critical studies and enterprise, as well as an individual creative project, the MCE emphasises entrepreneurship and innovation. You’ll be encouraged to explore the commercial applications of your work.

Your projects will focus on building a sustainable career in the creative sector. You will learn practical skills in areas such as lighting and sound design, studio production, software development and audio-visual content, depending on your area of focus.
