The Bachelor of Design with Honours (Industrial Design) encourages innovative thinking and creative application of new technologies. You’ll learn how to meet social, cultural, economic, and environmental needs of people of today and the future.

You'll learn to arrive at design solutions and show them by using many materials and techniques to create models and prototypes with a professional level of finish.

Your learning is studio-project based. You'll research and design a diverse range of items from tools to kitchenware, jewellery to sporting goods, furniture to agricultural equipment. 

Expressive arts is unique in New Zealand and was created in response to student demand. As part of your study, you will be able to choose from a range of activities such as devising, directing and writing theatre, writing creative works including fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, writing for children, and screenplays, or filming and producing digital video.

In spatial design studio courses, you'll learn to design for a host of spaces: private, public, retail, event, work, game, furnishing, experience, display, interface and performance. You learn to use the latest technologies and approaches to design spaces at the required scale, from the big picture (eg urban planning) to the fine detail of construction and materials.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Arts gives you the opportunity for advanced study in contemporary art. It is the entry point into fine arts postgraduate study at Massey University.

The programme combines theoretical inquiry with studio-based practice. It focuses on identifying, exploring and developing research methods that are relevant to current art practices and enquiry.

The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) has a strong collective philosophy. In this unique composite major, you’ll study courses in both media studies and expressive arts. You’ll blend theory with creative practice.

In the media studies part of your study, you will learn about the production, consumption and content of media and their social, cultural, political and economic implications.

The Graduate Diploma in Arts (Media Studies) is a bridging tool for graduates in other subjects to get the equivalent of a major in media studies.

With Massey’s Diploma in Arts (Portuguese) you’ll gain general knowledge and understanding of the Portuguese language and Brazilian culture. Brazilian Portuguese has a slightly different grammatical structure to European Portuguese, but is similar enough that speakers of Brazilian Portuguese would understand and be understood by speakers of European Portuguese.

You don’t need any knowledge of Portuguese to enrol. You’ll progressively develop communication skills in oral and written Portuguese, from introductory to advanced level. You’ll gain an understanding and appreciation of Brazilian culture and heritage. You’ll also learn to apply your knowledge to analyse, communicate ideas and solve basic problems in diverse contexts. This will make you highly employable in a range of careers.
