The Bachelor of Arts and Media programme provides the fundamental skills to enable graduates to move into personal practice or embark on a career in arts and design.

Grounded in academic and technical excellence, you will learn the effective use of visual language by developing extensive knowledge in painting, graphic design, animation, photography, digital video and illustration.

You will develop fundamental skills in your first year through various compulsory courses, including lens-based media, graphic design, object design, image-making and communication, and critical studies.

The Graduate Diploma in Marketing allows you to add a specialisation in marketing with elective options in strategic management, operations, international business and more to further your career. You will use your existing graduate skills or extensive experience to start your business study at the equivalent level to the final year of a business degree. Get started with Postgraduate study and pathway onto the Master of Applied Management. NMIT offers a Master of Applied Management pathway qualification. The Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Management is the first 10 months of the 15 month Master of Applied Management. You will complete the four core compulsory courses from the Master of Applied Management, plus four elective courses of your choice. This program aims to enable students to enhance their applied management skills and knowledge by focussing on more specific and in-depth aspects of management. The range of elective courses aim to provide options that will complement a range of particular professional experience and career aspirations.

This one year program is designed to build on scientific knowledge gained from your previous degree level study and give you practical experience to work daily in a marine environment. The Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Aquaculture will give you an advanced theoretical understanding and the technical and practical skills related to sustainable aquaculture practices. It will provide you with the skills to critically assess aquaculture systems. As part of an internship or in your existing employment, you will also complete an industry research project. This will encourage you to support the development of sustainable growth in the aquaculture sector through innovation. The program has been developed in consultation with the aquaculture and scientific community as well as industry representatives. It is designed to be flexible enough to meet today’s needs and those of the future, locally, nationally and internationally.

If you enjoy problem solving and like to understand how things work, then a career in Technical Support might be for you. Learn to build and administer networks for businesses This program builds upon the technical skills of the Certificate in Information Technology Technical Support with extended knowledge in networking and computer systems.  By the end of this course you will understand how the hardware of cables, servers and processes work with operating systems, networks and databases to deliver Information Technology Technical Support in a business environment. With this qualification you can start your career in an entry-level Information Technology support role, or pathway into the second year of the Bachelor of Information Technology.

The Graduate Diploma in Information Technology is for students who have already completed a degree. This program provides comprehensive knowledge and training in the latest developments in computer technology. The Graduate Diploma in IT is designed on a one to one basis. As a student you will receive individual course plans that are designed around your needs, interests and career plans. If you already have a degree, or extensive business experience and are looking to enhance your professional career, whether in a technical or a business area, this program will give you an opportunity to extend your knowledge into a specialised field without having to complete another degree.

This program builds upon the knowledge and skills gained in the New Zealand Diploma in Arts and Design (Level 5), and pathways onto the third year of the Bachelor of Arts and Media. During this program you will complete four compulsory courses in:

• Professional Practice (Lab and Project)

Through this program you will gain the skills and knowledge for entry-level positions in production and/or design roles within arts and design industries such as designers, technicians, machinists, or salespeople. All courses in this program are compulsory, so you are sure to gain a good broad understanding of arts and design. You will also get a taste of each of the areas you can specialise in if you go on to further study at NMIT. You will complete a Lab and a Project course for each of the following disciplines:

Develop key skills by learning how to analyse and evaluate hospitality and tourism operating environments, sustainable destination management (kaitiakitanga) options, and how to effectively apply staffing strategies to create a flow of positive staff relationships and a well-run team. You will also learn how to manage the customer experience, and how the concepts of kaitiakitanga and manaakitanga can be applied to your industry, allowing you to create distinctly New Zealand experiences.
