This program builds upon the knowledge and skills gained in the New Zealand Diploma in Arts and Design (Level 5), and pathways onto the third year of the Bachelor of Arts and Media. During this program you will complete four compulsory courses in:

Through this three year program you will develop a wide range of skills and knowledge related to Animation and Computer Generated Imagery (CGI). This program is designed to give you the skills you need for employment in the CGI industry, and in the creative and cultural sectors, or in other sectors where CGI is used. You will gain experience using industry-standard animation and CGI software and processing for projects.

The NMIT Bachelor of CGI program is designed to introduce you a wide range of tools and techniques, and then let you delve deeper into particular areas of interested through project courses. Whether you want to create animated characters for games, or special effects for cinema – the skills you will learn in the Bachelor of Computer Generated Imagery will help set you on a path for a wide range of careers in CGI.

Prepare yourself for employment in the merchant navy on vessels of any size, operating anywhere in the world. 

This program is a significant part of the Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) training requirements for students to gain the internationally recognised Standards of Training and Certification of Watchkeepers (STCW) Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch Class 3 certificate of competency. The blended delivery of the program also contributes to your employability by enhancing your core transferable skills; particularly digital literacy, problem solving, communication skills and team work.

This program will provide you with specialist knowledge, as well as technical and practical skills relating to aquaculture.

The program was designed with industry so you will graduate not only with the practical skills and knowledge in aquatic ecology and marine conservation biology but also communication and operations management skills so you can make an immediate contribution to the aquaculture industry whether locally, nationally or internationally. The program provides you with flexibility through elective study options to choose the area, such as marine conservation or business, that you would like to study.

This degree program is offered by AUT at the Nelson Campus and is available to graduates of the Diploma in Applied Fitness and the new New Zealand Diplomas in Sport, Recreation and Exercise. After completing the NZ Diploma in Sport Recreation and Exercise.

The courses that make up this program are all relevant and applied so you are constantly learning information you can apply to your work on graduation. The degree does not contain specialisation, however in your third year you will complete a big project that reflects the area of sports and recreation you are interested in. Class sizes are small providing more contact with your tutors than at larger institutions and you will make good friends with your class mates. The Diploma in Beauty Therapy will offer you stimulating studies in advanced facial therapy, electrolysis and advanced body treatments. Add these skills to a knowledge of anatomy and physiology, cosmetic chemistry, and practical work experience, and you will be qualified for a range of beauty therapy roles.

There are a range of opportunities available to help you into employment and future study in this growing and key industry sector. This level 5 program is the first year of the diploma qualifications. You will focus on fitness techniques, health, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, training, coaching and motivating people with the sector. This program replaces the Diploma in Applied Fitness. If you have partially completed the Diploma in Applied Fitness you will be able to transition onto this new qualification.
