This qualification will give you the skills you need to apply for your Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) Mate Fishing Vessel - Unlimited Certificate of Competency (COC). The program will give you the skills you need to gain your MNZ Mate Fishing Vessel - Unlimited COC, allowing you to work as Mate of a fishing vessel of 24m or more in length in any operating area at sea. On completion of this qualification return after 12 months and gain your Skipper Fishing Vessel – Unlimited certification to get the skills for your Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) Skipper Fishing Vessel - Unlimited COC. This programme contains all the training and supplementary certificates you will need for your COC. Including STCW basic safety training, advanced fire fighting, PISC and rescue boats, GMDSS Radio Operator.

Through this program you will gain the skills and knowledge for entry-level positions in production and/or design roles within arts and design industries such as designers, technicians, machinists, or salespeople. All courses in this program are compulsory, so you are sure to gain a good broad understanding of arts and design. Get started with Postgraduate study and pathway onto the Master of Applied Management. NMIT offers a Master of Applied Management pathway qualification. The Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Management is the first 10 months of the 15 month Master of Applied Management. You will complete the four core compulsory courses from the Master of Applied Management, plus four elective courses of your choice. This program aims to enable students to enhance their applied management skills and knowledge by focussing on more specific and in-depth aspects of management. The range of elective courses aim to provide options that will complement a range of particular professional experience and career aspirations.

If you enjoy problem solving and like to understand how things work, then a career in Technical Support might be for you. Learn to build and administer networks for businesses This program builds upon the technical skills of the Certificate in Information Technology Technical Support with extended knowledge in networking and computer systems.  By the end of this course you will understand how the hardware of cables, servers and processes work with operating systems, networks and databases to deliver Information Technology Technical Support in a business environment. With this qualification you can start your career in an entry-level Information Technology support role, or pathway into the second year of the Bachelor of Information Technology.

This one year program is designed to build on scientific knowledge gained from your previous degree level study and give you practical experience to work daily in a marine environment. The Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Aquaculture will give you an advanced theoretical understanding and the technical and practical skills related to sustainable aquaculture practices. It will provide you with the skills to critically assess aquaculture systems. As part of an internship or in your existing employment, you will also complete an industry research project. This will encourage you to support the development of sustainable growth in the aquaculture sector through innovation. The program has been developed in consultation with the aquaculture and scientific community as well as industry representatives. It is designed to be flexible enough to meet today’s needs and those of the future, locally, nationally and internationally.

The Bachelor of Social Work qualification will provide you with the core professional competencies and attributes required to enter the social work profession. In doing so, you will be awarded a provisional registration at the level of a beginning practitioner. This is the first step to becoming a fully registered social worker after completing two years of supervised practice. Field placement is a significant element in this program which will enable you to get firsthand experience through voluntary work and supervised placements in a social service agency.  You will also develop a range of flexible skills and professional attributes which will position you well to be responsive to and to work collaboratively within the increasingly complex and interdisciplinary social service and health communities. The skills you can during this degree are also applicable across a wide range of roles.

After completing this program, you’ll be able to enter the counselling profession at a beginning practitioner level. Practical placements are an essential part of the program and you’ll spend time working in community agencies and organisations. Once you’ve graduated, you’ll be able to apply for provisional membership of a relevant professional body such as the NZAC, Te Wh?riki Tautoko, DAPAANZ or NZ Christian Counsellors Association. You’ll have developed the skills and professional attributes to enable you to work collaboratively within this increasingly complex and interdisciplinary sector.
