Our MA Graphic Design and Typography is unique in its focus on building your graphic design practice and exploring and developing your role as visual designer and creative.

The course addresses issues including integration and diversity, behavioural change, community cohesion, and environmental challenges.

Whatever your background, you will advance your visual practice in areas that are important for design, such as concept development, communication and typographic design and textuality. You will combine this with extending your knowledge on the complexities of socio-environmental problems; insight into institutional and government structures; creative project development and management; design methods; and collaboration processes. This means you will gain the confidence to progress your career as graphic designer and have an active creative role in social and environmental change-making processes.

As a postgraduate student at ARU, you’ll have access to a dedicated base studio, along with specialist facilities such as film, photography and printmaking studios. You will receive training in creative software such as Adobe Cloud – and can access training in all our other art and creative industries facilities, too. 

Studying in our dedicated studios at Cambridge School of Art and at project locations, much of your work will be practice-based. You will take part in live projects, working with an external partner and students from related Masters degrees, as well as proposing and undertaking your own self-directed projects.

Throughout the course, you will collaborate and discuss your graphic design work with staff, external partners, visiting professionals and fellow students, giving you an invaluable opportunity to see how others respond to it. All our teaching team are practising designers, design researchers and artists, so you will hear about the latest news and issues in the industry, as well as getting access to sound careers advice.

If you’re a network engineer, cyber security specialist or computer scientist with a relevant degree looking to gain expertise in AI techniques applied to cyber security, this course will meet your needs.Our MSc Artificial Intelligence with Cyber Security is designed to prepare you in the area of network, information and computer security, focusing on the strategic implementation of AI-enabled security methods.Study with ARU in Cambridge and learn in a business-focused context that will allow you to assess new and existing cyber security threats and apply AI techniques to minimise them.

The security of business systems and data is vital. Most security vendors claim to do some kind of AI in their solutions, either to spot malicious behaviour patterns or to add support to overloaded security operation centres.

AI is clearly changing how security vendors approach threat detection, yet AI in security is still in its infancy.

This Masters in Artificial Intelligence with Cyber Security degree will give you skills and knowledge to stay ahead of the game as you learn to implement AI to monitor and protect against cyber attacks.You’ll consider the legal, economic, societal and ethical issues that an AI-based cyber system might impact on and learn how to implement IT strategies to conform to the appropriate professional, regulatory and ethical guideline constraints.

Study MA Human-Centred Design at ARU, and develop the theoretical, practical, and leadership skills, understanding and knowledge that are critical to creating dynamic and connected modes of engagement with the everyday physical and digital life; the climate and nature; and business. You’ll gain a broad understanding of people, culture, and context from the perspective of design, and tackle human and planet-related issues in a global context by introducing new forms of process, tools, and methods.You’ll work closely with students from across the Cambridge School of Art, including postgraduate students from Interior Design Innovation and Art, Health, and Wellbeing on an industry-led collaborative project, and deliver public-facing events. As a Human-Centred Design student in Cambridge, you’ll be able to work in a start-up environment and a relaxed culture in which creativity and creative problem solving are valued, building strong relationships and freely exchanging thoughts and ideas. Most importantly, you’ll receive support and guidance from our experienced staff who, as well as running their own studio practice, have worked with companies such as Nokia, Hitachi, Ogilvy, Unilever, Ford, and Dyson. The creative freedom offered by the course results in a variety of degree outputs based on design futuring, ideas and methods for design as an expanded ethical and professional practice, from new product development to new experiences and services, systems, and models.

Our Masters degree in English Literature focuses on three periods of literary history: the Renaissance, the ‘long’ nineteenth century and the 20th/21st century.Each of the three period-based modules is structured on ideas of politics and social change and will enable you to explore the interface between literature and society.

Explore the causes of crime, the effectiveness of punishment, and how crime and victimisation are represented in the media.

In doing so, you’ll challenge your existing opinions. You’ll also develop skills in evaluating contrasting evidence, critical thinking and crafting arguments by learning how sociologists, psychologists, political theorists and law experts approach crime and complex social problems.

Our BA (Hons) Criminology course places value on hands-on learning. We learn through case studies, the latest research and interactive sessions. There may be field trips to courts, prisons and sites such as Auschwitz.

Our wide choice of modules means that, whether you work in coaching, business, education or health, you can tailor your studies to your career goals. Our course will also suit you if you have a BSc in psychology and want to further your knowledge.

Our Applied Positive Psychology degree course is taught via blended learning, a mixture of both distance learning and face-to-face delivery in Cambridge and France. In France, teaching takes place approximately 40 minutes from the centre of Paris by train, giving you the advantage of cheaper accommodation as well as the chance to make a quick visit to the capital. In Cambridge, teaching takes place at our East Road campus, where you’ll also have access to the psychology laboratories in our Science Centre.

You’ll complete four intensive week-long modules, followed by online research methods teaching and supervision for your major project. In-between modules you’ll undertake self-directed study.
